6 out of the 10 aren't even horror movies. They are thrillers, crime dramas etc.

I think the silence of the lambs is a horror movie argument is one that's raged since 91 so there are people who say yes and people who say no. I didn't peep the rest of it hard enough to speak on it so let me do that and I'll be right back lol

Its not a horror movie though and I really don't get why anyone would classify it as one.
Its a thriller/crime drama about cops searching for serial killer.
Is Kiss The Girls a horror movie too? How about The Bone Collector? Manhunter is the same damn movie as Silence (FBI agent goes to Hannibal to get insight into a serial killer that's on the loose) but I never see anyone tossing that into the horror pile.

The vampire story wasn't as strong to me. Besides 'Blood & Black Lace', which I watched last week, what is Bava's other must watch horror?

Nah, the cast doesn't factor into it. Serious actors have starred in legit horror before. The Shining was directed by a legend and starred a legend and nobody has a problem recognizing it as horror.
If Silence is horror then fukking Criminal Minds is a horror TV show because it is the same basic premise.

I think it qualifies as horror. There's enough in it to do that. But again it gets into what's horror and what's thriller? To me, thriller is just a term Hollywood invented so a movie like silence of the lambs would get respect and not be relegated to the cheap seats normally reserved for horror. Thriller makes them feel better about what they're making and more prestigious.

I see it conversely...horror fans are so desperate for acceptance from the mainstream that they have latched onto a procedural crime thriller and deem it a horror film just because it got tons of critical and awards attention.
