Miller and Cunningham need to stop being dikks, come to a 50/50 agreement and get the ball rolling on some new Friday the 13th projects being made.
Ironically this bullshyt built up a fervor for the franchise. Whatever they announce next has the potential to be huge

Orphan: Why The Horror Movie Angered Real Adoption Groups

The 2009 psychological horror movie Orphan, which centers on a murderous adoptee, has faced its share of backlash from adoption groups.
:skip:
Adoption groups criticizing this movie recalls how the clown community was upsetover the portrayal of Twisty the Clown in Ryan Murphy's horror anthology show, American Horror Story.
:beli:

Ultimately, horror movies often draw from elements of real life from overt adaptations of true crimes to adding a sinister edge to the more mundane, like adoption; movie watchers might need to learn to not take horror flicks so literally.

American Horror Story: Freak Show Angered Real Clowns Over Twisty
American Horror Story: Freak Show’s Twisty the Clown character caused outrage amongst real clowns within the group, Clowns of America International.

Freak Show’s Twisty The Clown Prompted Backlash From Clown Communities
:deadmanny:

John Carroll Lynch’s Twisty the Clown, appearance wise, is like if IT’s Pennywise had a lovechild with John Wayne Gacy. Twisty's look and crazed attitude is a lot to take in, which is likely why it caused such an adverse reaction from the group, Clowns of America International. Clowns of America takes offense to the way that American Horror Story sensationalizes clowns and contributes to the public's growing coulrophobia (the fear of clowns). Clowns of America International already face an uphill battle and Murphy's show hasn't made their lives any easier. In spite of Twisty's frightening appearance, the most tragic thing about this misguided character is that he has the best of intentions. Even though Twisty does seem to genuinely want to help children in his own menacing way, that didn't seem to be enough to warm the hearts of the real clowns that were watching.

I’m going on record to say that they did a hell of a job of inflicting terror and fear without the Clown Association Intl blaming a horror series

“But there’s an additional tension this year: Just weeks prior, the New York Daily News reported that America might be facing a clown shortage. Citing decreased membership rates in the country’s largest trade organizations — Clowns of America International (CAI) and the World Clown Association (WCA) — the article painted clowning as the loser in a war of attrition, but nonetheless steadily committed to the fight. CAI President Glen Kohlberger claimed membership numbers are dropping because “[t]he older clowns are passing away.” Compounding this, the reasoning goes, is that interest in clowning is waning: Kids just aren’t joining up like they used to.”
:mjlol::mjlol:
“You’re interested in the art of clowning?” Later, she notes, somewhat menacingly, to never take work as a blood-soaked haunted house clown, implying that no real clown would ever participate in the denigration of such a good and wholesome art form.”

Been slacking a bit, because...holidays, you know the vibes! But during this downtime, I got to enjoy some of my Christmas gifts aka Books about Horror Franchises. I started Taking Shape which is all about the Halloween movies, how they came about, and with scattered interviews with key figures from each film. So I figure, I can drop some horror trivia as I go along with these joints.

First of which, the original Halloween's novelization added a LOT to the story. Michael's trial (and he takes the stand), some of Michael's time in the hospital with Dr. Loomis (how Loomis came to think he's evil), and possibly the most interesting bit...that whole Celtic Cult magic stuff is introduced in the very first Halloween Novel as an origin story. Interestingly, it seems like the writer added this stuff to make the plot work in novel form but didn't have input from the screenwriters on the changes...he just had freedom to go off.

This is where it gets both interesting and frustrating. I want that damned book. But they haven't printed new editions in decades, despite the author mentioning in an interview that he's pushed to have the novelization re-released. I went looking for a copy and on Amazon, the cheapest price was 500 dollars...it was 200 on GoodReads, so better but still insane and that book is also torn up looking and damaged.

So here I am...debating dropping a few hundred dollars on an early edition of a book that I'm not sure they'll re-release. And I'm also contemplating buying and stashing the novelizations of other horror movies I like if I can find them. Hell...I'd buy a novelization of the Leprechaun or Wishmaster even...I bet those would read less schlocky than their on-screen counterparts.

:mjlol: I didn't even know that was a thing until yall talked about it in this thread. Now I spot geometry all over horror media that I'd probably overlook the impact on otherwise.

I’ve never been more disgusted by my trypophobia triggering until I started posting here circa Candyman. It’s too much.

Now I can’t unsee any of it- it’s everyyyywhereee - I’ll be looking at something and a random pattern will pop out like “look at me-
