The germ of an idea that was shown in the short film the movie as based on was really intriguing. The problem is that the people behind the movie took the wrong path when trying to give that germ of an idea a full back story.

The best thing about Lights Out was when the boyfriend was getting his ass kicked by the monster chick and instead of trying to get back into the house to protect his girlfriend and her little brother dude hopped in his car and drove to the cops.
That had me laughing my ass off in the movie theater.

the fact that he stayed around so long had me dying. dude was a master level simp.

The new Blair witch was like a 3.5/10 for me.


It's just a soft remake of the first film except the ending sequence is longer (goes on too long) and they show glimpses of the witch.

I still maintain the actual mythology of Blair witch is cool as shyt but the films are garbage.

I want to see a well done non found footage Blair witch film one day that real dives into that mythology

The hype came from the movie community online. I don't think the rest of the world desired a sequel as much as lions gate had hoped. Even if the reviews were better.

I was more hyped for it when it was just a bunch of well made teasers for a movie called The Woods. As soon as they revealed it was a Blair Witch sequel my enthusiasm died.
Still haven't seen it yet.

If you like the first I say it's worth a watch for that alone. How much enjoyment you get out of it clearly varies

Right and that's their opinion. Like we're all aware at this point that a critic is a human being with their own opinion right? They're not robots. If some cats say it's the scariest movie ever, that's how they felt. You either agree or disagree

From what I understand the first screenings were still called the woods. That's what the audience critics thought they were seeing.

The lights came and the Blair witch title came on the screen revealing it was in fact a Blair witch sequel.

I think it's fair to say those audiences were simply caught up in the hype of the moment.
