when i fly i use a small pelican case, ziptie it, put some glitter nail polish on the end of the pawl, and toss it in a checked bag
to me a safe's only useful if it falls into one of two categories... 1/ actually protects from fire/burglars 2/ has some known trick where one can open it with little effort, these enable malicious compliance for ppl in states with safe storage laws who wanna grab smth quick if they hear a bump in the night... the onnais/vaulteks fall into the middle ground where they're neither... imho it's just a big "GUN INSIDE" sign and if a bad actor is ransacking your luggage they either have all the time in the world to break in, or they will after they take the safe home with them.
to me a safe is mainly to prevent nosey houseguests or children from accidently getting into something they shouldn't and hurting me or themselves or others.
if my son breaks into a locked safe obtains a gun and goes on a shooting rampage i'm probably less likely to get into trouble, than if he just picked it up off the counter and did so. I would have proof i didn't allow them to have guns.

yeah, I plan on hitting the range and using it out of the box. Not spending any money on it other then ammo. Maybe take a class too
Once at a range I wasn't using their preferred ammo and I got yelled at by a 5 foot 4 chubby Asian man. He yelled at me while I was holding a gun in my hand ... Like literally berated me in broken English, "You shooting this cheap shyt in my range" :mindblown:

Which made me feel like a trustworthy figure :obama:

What's a good mid size pistol to carry ? Don't want to spend anymore than $500 though I can if it's necessary. Preferably 9mm and small enough to fit in a purse/pouch.

You either gotta up your budget or lower your quality preference. You might be able to find something *good that used for that price but it might be in bad shape. if you up your budget $100 to $200. You'll be able to get anything good with a brand of your choice.

You need to go to a store and get your hands on a gun and see what feels good to you, and maybe hit up a range and see how one fires.

Guns are like shoes. Different people have different size and shaped feet. So if you have flat feet vs high arches, someone recommending one particular shoe may not work for you.

You might have long basketball player hands and can palm a basketball vs short stubby meaty hands with sausage fingers some pistols aren't going to feel right in your hands even though some pistols have replaceable back straps and there are aftermarket grips and attachments to make something that doesn't fit or feel right work which just means more money.

Can we now tell the people who try to push gun control to shut the fukk up now and understand why marginalized communities WANT gun rights?!

Not even fear mongering.

Ironically every election they fear monger about gun pricing going up because of democrats. Trumps tariffs will likely make guns more inaccessible to people.

yes true but what I meant was that on the left a lot of people push anti gun rhetoric, mainly white liberals who don't live in communities where they're protected. With Trump going back into office, him talking about immunity for cops, etc I think that this would be enough reason to hold off on "gun control" since the communities that need firearms the most are working class minorities and in reality many gun control laws are racist / classist.

Yeah, that would leave room for more gun owners to support the left. I see too many turn conservative just because they like guns.
As much as i care about the 2nd amendment, i'm not giving up any other amendments for it. something too many other people are all too willing to do.
