Started going to the gun range recently and strongly considering getting a Glock 19 with a red dot as my starting pistol. Just want something for the house and shoot occasionally for fun. I'm in CA so I already know about the process about getting one and the limitations within the state from the gun rep. He also try to talk me into getting a CCW since the process is easier in OC than LA. Any tips from fellow bros who are more experience with guns and the process?

Do ya'll think if more law abiding black citizens who owned guns legally community crime would decrease?

No. Guns are not, nor are intended to be tools for crime prevention. They might save more people's lives when violent or deadly crime occurs but that's about it. Guns aren't the solution to crime, they can be used as protection against criminals though.

Look at your reliable brands. Look at the best models of those brands. Go to ranges, not stores, somewhere you can rent and shoot, then rent the guns your considering and shoot them. Don't buy a gun because 10 people online say "yeah dogg, this is the one you want!" And post up a pic of theirs.

I've said this many times. Guns are like shoes. Shoes are dope, but everyone has different feet. If you've got wide feet, or narrow feet, size 13s or size 9s, high arches or flat feet, you might not be able to rock Jordan's, Chuck Taylor's might not feel good to you. Does that mean they are bad shoes? No. You just gotta find ones that work with you. If you've got big hands, small hands, long fingers, short fingers. There's gonna be various popular makes and models that people are going to love and steer you toward, you will never find out until you get those guns in your hands. And not even just holding them, but shooting them. I had a springfield I liked, the look, the feel, had the bells and whistles, when I shot it, it was snappy as hell, long story short that gun wasn't for me. Doesn't mean it's a bad gun at all. You can't go by other people's praises or even negative critiques of firearms. You can name a brand and there's people that don't like it, you can name a gun and there's always someone that had a bad experience or got their hands on a faulty one or knows the guy that knows the guy. Don't completely disregard that stuff, take it with a grain of salt. When/if you buy a gun, look to see what mods or improvements people are making to theirs. Not the cosmetic ones, but the practical ones. Sometimes an $80 fix on a 500-700 gun ain't bad. But at the same time dropping $200 to improve a $500-700 gun, literally just put you down where you could've just bought a better model, or bought from a higher bracket. Don't rush these things. There will always be sales, shyt always comes back in stock. Buy once, cry once.

I already shot the Glock twice within the past two weeks and I feel that it's the best for me. The one that I shot with yesterday had the scope and I would preferred that because of the better accuracy. The clerk at the range gave me the exact spill on what you just stated on how guns are like shoes and I need to find the one that I'm most comfortable with before buying. I'm going to go up there again in a week or two to try a rifle and a shotgun before I make my final decision (only can shoot them on Wednesday nights). I've been meaning to get a piece for years but always have procrastinated on it since I have always lived in okay neighborhoods, don't hang out in sketchy areas and usually keep to myself for the most part. But you never know what going to happen so I need to stop bullsh*tting and finally pull the trigger literally. Plus election year is coming up and these cacs are going to start acting crazy again if Trump can get re-elected and I need to make sure that I'm straight since a lot of his supporters live in Orange County .

Sounds like you're making and informed decision. That's the best thing you can do.

you can't go wrong with that, i'm a glock hater and still think the g19's one of the goated pistols. what else have you shot and what model sight did the glock have? oh and i'm kinda jealous towards ppl who learn to shoot on red dots instead of irons, it's basically cheating lol.

this is a great time to buy in, prices are really low rn and historically there's gun market fukkery during the run up to an election. if you decide on the glock you can sign up for this club to get law enforcement pricing: Pistol Purchase Program | GSSF

I shot a S&W before but didn't like it. Felt too heavy for me. I'm still not familiar with a lot of gun lingo but I tried the G19 (with and w/o the red dot) and G17 (with red dot). It maybe cheating but if my life is on the line, I don't give a fukk as long as my safely comes first :manny: :demonic:.

The rep at the gun range stated that I should get the gun without mods for right now and add them once I got better. When I first shot the Glock last weekend, I didn't use any and my aim was off to the left for the bulk of the shots. But at the same time, I currently have issues with my right arm when I can't completely straighten it out so I thought was the issue with the inaccuracy.

I need to get this soon so I can stop procrastination and have a solid home protection weapon on some just in case sh*t. Hopefully I will only use it at the gun range and not on a actual person. I will admit that I never been a big gun guy but I have to be real with the society that we live in and these other folks have no problem with tooling up so I need to have one to protect myself. At the same time, I now understand why people like shooting them because of the power that you feel with them.
