15 of the 22 starters from FSU are transfer students they were a 5 win team two season ago …they addressed that by hitting the portal hard back to back years …they are where they are right now directly because of the portal …it’s not really something to argue …those are just the facts
Ok, so why is FSU focused on HS recruiting now (#3 class on 247 with 23 commits) and not just focusing on portal transfers?

Well good players are good players no matter where you get them from AND FSU has the historical cache to attract the best of the best or those who are considered more sure fire/low risk prospects ….that goes without saying right?

…But again …what does that have to do with their philosophy on building and winning nearly exclusively with transfer students this year?

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:

That's utter bullshyt

His record at Kent St.

(2018) 2 - 10
(2019) 7 - 6
(2020) 3 - 1
(2021) 7 - 7
(2022) 5 - 7

He only had ONE 3,000 yard passer. He never coached at a power 5 school as a coordinator either except for Syracuse and he was only there for 1 season.

There where head coaching gigs in the SEC and ACC that were available and none of them looked his way. Going to Colorado was a come up for him and he won't be missed. All the players he brought from Kent St were trash.

So he's basically going back to being a nobody.

As for the recruits decommitting, this happens all the time, but unlike other schools, Colorado is treated differently. Every player is nitpicked and over analyzed. And for what? This was always going to be a multi year rebuild.

If you think you're lonely now, ohhh girl...
Without the portal they wouldn’t have 70% of their starting roster …they used the same portal heavy approach to get where they are as I mentioned in the other post …they wouldn’t be where they are without it … the high school players you’re touting are riding the bench and either are not involved at all or being rarely relied on …especially their most recent class …Their top recruit 5 star Hakeem Williams has 4 total catches this year …that’s not “depth” that’s just a nikka on the sideline

Hykeem*

He’s been hurt. He hasn’t played in weeks. FSU has used the portal well, but really the turnaround started LAST year when we didn’t have guys like Keon Coleman or Jaheim Bell. Norvell was able to win ten games with guys like Pokey Wilson at WR. In turn, he was able to leverage his on the field success from last season (i.e., winning) to attract guys like Coleman this season. Norvell and his staff also struggled to make recruiting in roads in the state his first few seasons, but now that we’re winning, we have top three HS recruiting class. They will be a lot more judicious about using the portal going forward in my opinion. The goal for a team in FL will always be to secure the top FL/GA HS talent, which we’re doing now.
