March and April are the worst months up in the city. Cold rain and sleet and old snow that won’t melt, and the occasional 55* day just to help people get sick by coming outside underdressed, just WOAT.might be decent. but it might be snowing. it's really a crap shoot that time of year.
Nah I generally don't have problems. But I'm not really a confrontational type of dude so a lot of shyt I don't get up for anyway. For example, a lot of the older drivers will get up in folks face about not paying their fare and thats how shyt gets poppin. Me though I don't a damn, I press that 6 key like we were trained and keep it pushing. Them not paying don't affect my paycheck so I could care less.
You see police activity every 15 mins after 7pm, not even exaggerating
Other than the occasional ghetto shyt that requires police help.....riding up and down the big east-to-west streets easy money. This gotta be the easiest job to get that pays 40 an hour at top pay I've ever seen. But understandably a lot of folks just don't wanna deal with the stress that comes with it. My Weekends are gone....I'm working ALL the damn holidays and because of how seniority works its bout to be that way for the next 5 years.....so this prolly not the best job for single parents with kids and no support
another update from dolton......

We have a number pad on the opposite side of the fair box…we push a number based on what kind of fare was put in, 6 is for a pay. The RTA pays CTA everytime we put in a no pay but the CTA will cut the number of buses if a route has so many no pays, it’s why buses take longer to arrive than it might have last week cause it’s less buses on that streetwhat does pushing the 6 button mean? does this mean I can hop on the bus and not pay, and the CTA will eat that charge to avoid confrontations?
Them first 6 months are brutal for new hires. You gonna be working 10 hours and you gonna be doing 79th or cottageI can’t imagine working 8am-8pm, seven days a week, driving 79th street.

I’m just now getting variety with 43, 51 and Pulaski
Nah 103rd is a seniority garage, folks with 10+ years clocked in. I’m over here at the garage on 79th and State with the nikkasYou out of the depot on 103rd? Are you allowed to transfer to the north or west side?
You know, to a different demographic
I imagine doing something like those routes that run into Evanston, Skokie, oak park etc must be cakeNah 103rd is a seniority garage, folks with 10+ years clocked in. I’m over here at the garage on 79th and State with the nikkas
The north side is stress free and many go there for that reason alone
But having to travel from the south side to the north side at 5 in the morning during a snowstorm is not what’s up, I’ll prolly stay south assuming I eventually buy a home in the south suburbs like I want.
Working Pulaski I really like that area in the 90s number blocks
