I understand yall are frustrated, but voting for Vallas is crazy talk if you actually care about black people.

And yes, $200 million sounds like a lot but it's worth putting in context w/ the rest of the government spending instead of talking crazy about the city from the burbs. Here's an example of the budget from 2022:
  • $635 million to maintain and expand affordable housing
  • $26 million in arts & culture investments to expand place-based arts and events opportunities
  • $86 million for mental health to increase access to mental health services
  • $135 million for direct violence prevention initiatives to increase community safety
  • $188 million in environmental justice and climate investments
  • $150 million for youth services and jobs to expand opportunity for youth to access employment and out-of-school programming
  • $166 million in community development initiatives to drive equitable growth and job creation.
  • $87 million in workforce and small business support to expand economic opportunity
  • $144 million in assistance to families to connect families with critical resources to improve health outcomes and increase opportunity
  • $202 million for homelessness initiatives to expand services and housing opportunities for those experiencing homelessness.
  • $144 million in other key initiatives including parks and infrastructure, food equity, and tourism and industry support

If you read what's going on, Johnson is going to operate at a $500 million deficit while Paul Vallas would've cut social services and closed more black schools to balance the budget. Smarten up and get news outside of social media before yall rehash republican talking points

Brehittos were wilding yesterday downtown and most likely tonight as well. Stay safe and be prepared for traffic. Michigan Rd was shut down and to other streets to prevent brehittos to enter downtown.

I don't condone that shyt. :francis: Do better brehittos.

Perfect time to take a nap with all this rainfall 🌧.....but I just woke up.

The street is flooded due to debris clogging up the drains....and parked cars are about 25% underwater at this point.

I would grab my rake and take care it myself, but these neighbors never speak anyway so to hell with it.

I was reading a good article in the Sun times against the Red Line extension and it makes sense

They keep calling the far southside a transit desert :mjlol:

Which is far from the truth

You got multiple Metra lines running thru that mf. Most of those stops in Chatham @beaniemac , Pullman, Roseland are flag stops with infrequent service. You’d have to convert the Metra Electric to a rapid transit train line.

The Metra on 121st takes u all the to downtown... Extended the redline is pointless..
Not only that, the Metra (at least the Metra Electric line) is just as affordable as the CTA now.
Not to mention a more comfortable ride and the trains are cleaner.

Can charge your phone, use the bathroom, and the conductors do not tolerate foolishness. Seen multiple mfs get thrown off by metra police for being drunk, panhandling, blasting music.

Took the metra electric almost daily 2017-2019

:wtb:

the metra electric runs like once an hour and barely on weekends. and barely any service outside of weekday working hours. that shyt is NOT viable transportation like the actual red line for getting around when the red line trains come every 5-10 minutes.

personally, I don't have any skin in the game since my house is served by a 5 minute walk to the red line at 87th street.
