We’re not China. They can’t shut it down here like that. I think closing schools, libraries, and restaurants is as much as they can do.

here's the problem with this. when they shut down all these non-government businesses, how do the folks who are employed and own these businesses afford to pay their bills? cuz I don't think COMED, people's energy, or the mortgage company takes IOU's.

this is so fukked up

Not to get too political itt, but they need to go full Bernie. The Great Depression was the breaking point where the country realized it needed stronger social safety nets. This is going to be similar. They need to freeze essential collections (mortgage, utilities, rent ect) and work with the mortgage banks, landlords, utilities to make them whole. They need to provide healthcare so anyone who feels ill, can get help. They need to get cash assistance into the hands of people that need it.They need to work w the small business owners to help them and their employees out. This is going to take a massive overhaul.

Dumped 500B into the market and it disappeared in 2 hours. They can put the money in to all the shyt theyve said we cant afford for decades. They just dont care about anything but the market, until now.

Even the Republicans sound like they're open to those things, which is shocking, but also telling how big this thing is, ,that they're willing to even consider those things, much less vote on them.

It's all fukked.

where the united states could drastically cut back on spending is on defense. we have the strongest military in the world and it's not even close. there's no reason we need to continuously pump in trillions to the military industrial complex just so we can be the clear cut #1 world superpower. even if we cut that in half, we'd still be the top superpower by far.

Just got an inside tip from my connection in the Mayor's office that they will issue a "Shelter in Place" order today at 5pm.

MY COMPANY GAVE US GOV APPROVED LETTERS
ALLOWING US TO MOVE FREELY DURING A LOCKDOWN...

I JUST ASSUMED THEY WERE BEING PROACTIVE
DUE TO THE SITUATION IN SAN FRAN.

I wouldnt trip too much over a shelter in place edict. It's not as restrictive as it sounds, and it's not much different than what everyone should be doing anyway. You can still leave your house to go outside, go to the grocery store, bank, pharmacy, hardware store ect.
