In a stunning decision, Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced Tuesday morning that he will no longer seek a third term in office, signaling the end to what has been a tumultuous – and at times transformative – eight years in office.’

“I’ve decided not to seek re-election,” Emanuel said. This has been the job of a lifetime, but it is not a job for a lifetime.

:francis:Thats the kicker.

So people say its Willie but idk tho:patrice:
Willie Wilson is a c00n though lol. Voted for Trump and everything. Here are some highlights from a Chicago Sun Times article:
Wilson revealed recently that he voted for Trump in the 2016 election, although he no longer is willing to talk about it.

The State Board of Elections ruled last week that Wilson did not violate state campaign finance laws when he doled out hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash and checks at a church event last month in Chatham, where he was accompanied by Gov. Bruce Rauner.

Also, some aldermen introduced a resolution contending Wilson and Rauner should be investigated by the Cook County state’s attorney for a possible felony violation of election law for alleged vote buying.

Wilson noted that the charitable foundation from which he makes many of his donations has recently experienced a problem with someone forging checks on the foundation’s account. About $9,000 has been stolen from the foundation through forgeries, he said.

“Rahm may have something to do with that, too,”
Wilson said.

Willie Wilson won’t talk about Trump, even though he’s talking like him

Ate at this burger bar spot. Was decent. A bit pricey but that was expected. Went to al's donuts. It was ok. Nothing special. Better than typical spots like dunkin.

This damn rain pissing me off tho. Having to deal with it on a daily basis, I sure as hell wasn't expecting to deal with it and thought I was gonna get a break from it. :francis:

Piece Pizza right off Milwaukee and North Avenue is real good.

Do-Rite Donuts is the shyt but they are downtown and west loop.

Willie Wilson is a fukking joke...dude ran for only 2 reasons

1) to protect/help Rahm by splitting black vote

2) to get paid off by Rahm for running

One thing about Chicago is that every political decision like this is preplanned. Rahm would not have made this decision if he and his supporters (developers/big business etc) didn't already vet and decide who would run and carry the mantle. I'm guessing that person will be Arne Duncan.

Don't think I was ever around Do-Rite Donuts. Not that I can remember anyways. At least not when I would've wanted donuts.

I looked up that pizza place. Looks like they do regular pizza and not Chicago style. I would prefer deep dish. Went out to Logan Square on Friday night. They had one spot that had regular pizza also. I think it was right off California and Milwaukee. I know someone in here had recommended it. It was good.

Plenty of places I haven't hit up but of course there's so many that it's hard to do all of them. So many good spots to eat at. But I'll have to keep some of y'all recommendations in mind.

Was fun nonetheless. Some of the things I didn't do, I was ok with cuz I had already done them before. That severe rain from yesterday really screwed us tho. Bad weather all over the country messed things up. Definitely the worst thing about the whole weekend. Didn't get home until like 2:30 in the morning. I was exhausted and luckily didn't work until after noon but still tired as hell. Now who knows if or when I'll be back.

Lori Lightfoot
Appointed by Emanuel as president of the Chicago Police Board, Lightfoot’s background put her in a perfect position to capitalize on the aftermath of the Laquan McDonald shooting and other police scandals, political prognosticators said when she announced her run. She would be Chicago’s first openly gay mayor.

Ricardo Munoz
Munoz said in July he was planning to retire from City Council, where he has represented his West Side 22nd ward since 1993. Apparently, Emanuel’s retirement changed things – Munoz said he was considering running live on WGN shortly after Emanuel’s announcement. WGN reports Munoz said, “With Rahm not running I’m actually thinking about it.”

John Kozlar
Kozlar has failed twice in attempts to dislodge aldermen in the 11th Ward, but he almost forced a Daley relation into a runoff on his second attempt. He now aspires to be the latest son of Bridgeport to ascend to the mayorship.
