After Ramaine Hill was shot a few years ago near the old Cabrini-Green public housing complex where he grew up, he knew he had to watch his back.
He had led police to the gunman, and Hill had been threatened by the suspect's friends, his family said.
"He started getting real distant" after he was shot, his sister, Rakeisha Hill, 23, recalled Monday afternoon. "Usually he'll talk some. But he just stopped talking, period."
On Saturday, Hill was fatally shot near the former site of the Near North Side housing complex, a shooting his family believes was done by those intent on finishing what they started.
