Another store is leaving Northlake.

I try to stop by Northlake when I'm in the area because they have the most sneaker stores. DTLR, Kids Footlocker, Footlocker, Champs, Jimmy Jazz, Finishline, & a boutique if you tryin pay resell. The Dillards is decent, the Macy's is terrible, lots of open space especially in the Men's section. And the mall itself is kinda just empty around Macy's.
Concord Mills is alright. It has the Outlet stores and a couple sneaker spots. Footlocker chose to close all the Footactions.
Southpark is cool. Got some higher end stores, anchor stores seem to be doing alright. Only 2 sneaker stores though, Footlocker & The Athlete Foot. Also a new resell boutique.
I haven't been to Carolina Place since like 2020. But it was alright when I used to go.
I have a young friend joining the Merchant Marine for domestic tug work and he wants to move down South. He will make about $45k starting out but be on a ship 6 months of the year so will save decent money if he is smart. Would Charlotte be a good place for him to live cost of living wise? He can live anywhere and fly in to his hitches.
I am guessing with the 30% rule he would qualify for a $1k 1BR apartment. Doesn't have to be in the downtown hip areas, suburbs (with Black folks) is fine. Thanks.
I think he can swing it COL wise but he may be stretching it if he has any other debt. There will probably be some competition with spots in that price range that have decent reviews. Six months a year or only once? If it's yearly and he's a younger cat he could look into the college apartments that rent by the door to stretch his money a bit further.
