Honestly I'm not denying that dude was ghost for about 3 or 4 rounds but imo, canelo was also ghost status for a couple rounds as well, which no one here seems to be mentioning. I will say this though, I'll take another look at the fight when it resurfaces, on show time on demand; then I'll evaluate this case with a more thorough analysis. You've got be kidding me right. I don't post often but I'm the furthest thing from a Canelo fan but Lara did absolutely nothing for about 4 straight rounds his corner was terrible too telling him he was winning...if you saw any of my earlier posts you'd know I said 117-111 is ridiculous but either fighter winning I wouldn't have had a problem with. It's about ring generalship and composure as well as aggressiveness when a fight is close. Where was Lara's hook to the body? Whenever they clinched Canelo threw punches dude still thinks it's Olympic point scoring he threw no hooks, uppercuts or body shots...Lara at times literally backed up...threw a jab circled wash rinse and repeat...dude had a chance to cement his foothold on the fight and took command but took his foot off the gas plain and simple. This should've been Rigo vs Donaire all over again.
And what exactly did Canelo do to prove he could beat Cotto? Cotto is shop-worn based on tough fights but Cotto struggles with guys who can walk him down with fast hands or guys like Floyd/Trout who have long arms and are technically sound....Canelo is neither and he's poor at cutting off the ring I think Cotto UD's Canelo.
shyt was a close fight but I don't feel bad for lara at all. he deserved that shyt. you cry for years to get this fight....crash canelo's press conference....finally get your chance....biggest fight of your life. and this is what you do?.....either lara is a fukkin idiot or he was just terrified of canelo's power. probably the latter, cause one of the only times he actually stood his ground he got his eye busted open. but that was just terrible to watch. dude wasn't making canelo pay the price for any missed punch he threw. seemed like lara's whole gameplan was just to get the fukk out of the way. he was running for entire rounds...not even ATTEMPTING a counter punch. wouldn't even call it a good defensive performance from lara....shyt is not that hard to make a guy miss when your just running around the ring with no intention of throwing back. to me, it just looked like lara was shook of canelo's power. he seemed bothered as hell by every body shot that landed....even with them high ass trunks. matter of fact...fukk lara. I hate when all the anticipation for a big fight ends in disappointment.
Told ya'll this overrated ass nikka wasn't no Rigo, give me that colicash and back to the bushes Lara and his stans go
maybe pacquiao will step up to the plate and find the stones to fight him
Canelo landed 9 jabs the whole fight
Erislandy Lara Goes At It With Reporter - esnews …:
lara gets hit with some ether but fox deportes reporter last night.
Lara isn't Rigo. He isn't as quick, his defense isn't as good, and he doesn't have that amazing ability that Rigo and Floyd have of turning great defense into great offense. He doesn't punish you for trying to press him like Rigo does. Lara moves away and lands here and there. And you're right: He's permanently stuck in that amateur fight winning style. It would take a Margarito, elite level stalking type fighter to bring a great fight out of Lara. And if he does get more active, he gets hit. You've got be kidding me right. And get out of here with defensive specialist....defensive specialists don't get dropped by slow, plodding fighters like Angulo or gets confused by Carlos Molina...he's technically sound with no adjustments in his offensive tactics.

Is 117-111 card another hint that technical boxing is on its way out of the window? :tumbo2:
Will they only reward pure entertainment? :tumbo:
