Canelo: Mayweather's Style Doesn't Make For Attractive Fights
Floyd Mayweather Jr will come out of retirement to box UFC star Conor McGregor in August, but Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin are unenthused.
After constant posturing and trash-talking, Mayweather and McGregor finally agreed to a bout at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on August 26.
The fight has been met with excitement among fans but criticism from boxers, including Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya, who branded it an "embarrassment" before plans were finalised.

Mayweather-McGregor will take place three weeks before the unbeaten Golovkin defends his WBC, WBA, IBO and IBF middleweight titles against Canelo in the same city, and the same venue, on September 16.
And the Kazakh believes there is only one boxing match fans should get excited about.
"Every day there's a show in Vegas and everybody understands the true boxing fight is September 16, not before," Golovkin said after being pressed for his take on the fight.
Canelo asserted that his meeting with Golovkin is the only "real fight" on the calendar at the moment.
"I really don't want to comment about that fight. Our fight is a real fight, it's a fight you demanded and wanted," said Canelo, via a translator.
"It's two fighters at their best, at their peak, and you know what you're going to get."
Mayweather inflicted the only defeat of Canelo's 51-fight career, but the Mexican feels he has developed hugely since their encounter in September 2013 - which took place at a catch-weight of 152-pounds. Canelo was an untested fight at that time, and Mayweather had an easy time dominating him over twelve rounds of action.
Asked who has been the toughest opponent of his career, Canelo replied: "Mayweather.... Mayweather's style doesn't make for attractive fights, it's difficult to land punches. He's not aggressive, he doesn't punch hard at all. I learned a lot [from that fight] and I've grown."

Exacty. One of the reasons why I kind am interested in Mayweather-McGregor is because we know there will be such a skill disadvantage and opportunities will be aplenty, what will Floyd do. Will he be his usual cautious self or will he Gatti him up? Despite the fact I think Floyd is far better than Canelo, we know that McGregor would get sparked out of there quickly by Canelo because it is more natural for Canelo to do so. I am far more than interested in how Floyd chooses to fight then seeing the fight...although it will be fun to see Connor look like a regular Joe vs. Floyd's skills and the comments from his fans during and after the fight. What's there to discuss?.......the debate of mayweather being boring has already been argued to death. Even Floyd admits his fights aren't the most entertaining. Floyd's main concern isn't about putting on exciting fights. It's about making money and winning. Can't hate on that. He's still the best fighter of this era

I think Floyd will be cautious at the start like he always is. Cause this is new waters for him too. He's not gonna know what to expect. But once he realizes just how terrible conor is, he's gonna open up and completely toy with him. Unless they have a secret agreement in place that Floyd has to let him survive, there's no way possible Floyd wont knock him out. Conor has never experienced the type of sharpness and accuracy that he's gonna feel vs Floyd. shyt will get ugly. Floyd will be landing some devastating shots on him.Exacty. Exactly breh. Kind of interesting. Reality is Floyd will be in charge of how this fight is determined. He can carry him or take him apart. It all comes down to what Floyd decides to do. Going to be painful for Connor stans. He literally will have no say in the fight and the outcome is all on Floyd's hands.I think Floyd will be cautious at the start like he always is. I find Floyd fights very entertaining with the way he outskills everyone in the corner across from him![]()

He's actually one of the more entertaining pure boxers and is aesthetically pleasing to watch.
Casual fans definitely pay to see him lose, but he's still able to catch the casual fans' eye because of the way he looks dominating his opponent.
You don't become the biggest draw if there is absolutely no appeal at all stylewise.
