WBA orders Matthysse-Kiram, Barthelemy-Relikh II, Machado-Mensah

The WBA is laying down the law this week, ordering a trio of title fights that includes filling two vacancies and giving a newly-minted champion his first opponent.

Up at welterweight, Lucas Matthysse (38-4, 35 KO) will face Tewa Kiram (38-0, 28 KO) for the “standard” title despite Keith Thurman owning the “Super” title and the sanctioning body claiming that it wants to reduce the number of belts in play. Kiram has an extremely Thai record and will most likely be mulched with extreme prejudice by “La Maquina.”

Seven pounds south, Rances Barthelemy (26-0, 13 KO) must rematch Kiryl Relikh (21-2, 19 KO) for the title formerly held by Terence Crawford. The two first fought in May, trading knockdowns before Bathelemy walked away with a controversial decision. Good, overdue fight.

Finally, Albert Machado (19-0, 16 KO), fresh off his comeback knockout of Jezreel Corrales, will begin negotiations with unbeaten Ghanaian Rafael Mensah (31-0, 23 KO). This one’s closer to Matthysse-Kiram in matchmaking, as Mensah has never fought outside of Ghana and has no standout wins to speak of.

Great question:jbhmm::sas2:

this paranoid shyt from Wilder fans kill me

it's been said multiple times that the fight will happen in 2018 etc...
everything point in the direction that it's gonna happen

but it's like some Wilder fans would disregard everything which point in the direction of the fight happening and it's almost like they would want Joshua to duck Wilder to be moral victors or idk and they clinging into nothings to explain themselves why the fight WON'T happen, making a fuss out of non existent situations, non existent things such as Joshua going to HBO to avoid Wilder

keep that

Wilder fans apparently gonna ignore it and keep believing that AJ is scared of their man to play the moral victor underdog until the fight is official, clinging into made up shyt like AJ will jump to HBO because of the "evidence" such as Jacobs fought on HBO. Ok...
fukking fed up with that already

How's it non existent when Joshua only has 1 fight left on his Showtime contract & rumors been saying he's headed to HBO?

Yall think HBO & Showtime gonna come together to fight over splits of a sub 500k PPV?

I doubt it. Joshua cannot leave Showtime if he's fighting Wilder.

What rumors

on one side they repeated like 1000 times that the fight is happening in 2018

on the other side somebody said something on twitter about Hearn's fighters will go to HBO? c'mon

and anyway, none of them is exclusively tied to any network if I know it right, Wilder also not

Wilder's damn manager said he is positive about the fight happening soon :heh: not only Joshua
and if we can't go by what boxers and promoters say what we should do? Go by social media "rumors" that Joshua will go to HBO?
not even Wilder said anything about this and that man says anything about Joshua nowadays

I'm just confused in situations like this when one fan base running very hard with the perception that their fighter is scared and ducked by another fighter

Pac - May
Golovkin - Canelo
Kovalev - Ward
Wilder- Joshua

at a point I don't know already if the fanbase of the first column fighters want the fight to actually happen or rather want to be proven right about their fighter being scary

:sas2:

cause Stevenson went to Showtime to beat C level opponents for better money, he made a business decision sadly

does that tell anything about Joshua? no

rather an exception and doesn't change the question... wheher those fans want the actual fights or the perception that their guy is the scariest mfer... remember how Kovalev fans were barking even after the fight was signed about they only believe it's happening if both of them are in the ring, remember how they accused Ward of being scared of Kovalev even before their rematch. they were clearly uncomfortable with admitting that they were wrong.

fine, believe what u want but take that back if it's happening next year

No doubt...i will.

I want the fight to happen next, however there are negotiations between the 2 of them needed & then the fact Joshua has to sign with a network in 2018 as well.

Both are obstacles that will have to be jumped over to make the fight. Im hoping everything goes well.....but this is Boxing. Ive seen negotiations go sour all the time & fights get pushed back constantly.

Never seen a big PPV fight of this era go smoothly & happen when it should.

You keep slipping back to Ward...Stevenson & Kovalev never happened & that was the fight the public wanted. Not Ward/Kovalev.

Ward/Kovalev happened bc Stevenson left, but before that, no one was calling for it.
