The Contender boxing reality series, which aired from 2005 to 2008 with the initial season on NBC, followed by two on ESPN and a fourth on Versus, could be returning, this time to Epix, multiple sources with knowledge of the talks told ESPN. Epix did top-level boxing from 2011 to 2013 and showed interest in getting back into it in recent months. It nearly closed a deal to air the World Boxing Super Series tournaments but ultimately bowed out, but the network still has an appetite for the sport, sources said. If Epix officially signs off on bringing the Contender back, pre-production could start as soon as next month with the new season to air in 2018. MGM, which owns Epix, also is part owner of Contender co-creator and reality TV superstar producer Mark Burnett’s studio. However, there are also those at Epix, according to sources, advocating for the money that would be spent for a season of the show – in the $25 million neighborhood -- to instead go to buying significant fights. That kind of annual boxing budget would compete with HBO and Showtime.

gotta give credit for Peterson for fighting everybody :salute:

Bradley
Victor Ortiz when he was a thing
Khan
Matthysse
Swift
Diaz
and now Spence

idek who else in the boxing world have such a good list of opponents, Ward had and he even beat all of them but he retired, I can't think of anybody else aside of veterans like Pac, Cotto or RJJ

maybe Canelo with having Floyd, Trout, Lara and GGG on his resume
Swift with Matthysse, Khan, Peterson and Thurman comes close too
Trout with Lara, Canelo, Charlo and Cotto - and now Hurd- is up there too
oh and of course Salido with JMM, Guerrero, Juanma, Gamboa, Mikey, Loma, Rocky, Vargas, Berchelt...
yeah I think Salido is the winner

Darnell Boone maybe, Ward, Lara, Pascal, Stevenson, Kovalev, also solid guys like Monroe, Periban, Vera, Edwin Rodriguez or Stevens but he took on those fighters while they were up and comer prospects so he did it a few levels below Peterson or Salido.

the lsc and mares fights are only interesting if their opponents actually rise to the occasion
I didn't count the Mares fight :mjlol: fukk a "regular" belt :stopitslime:

it's
Charlo vs Lubin
Hurd vs Trout
Lara vs Gausha
Groves vs Cox
and LSC vs Avalos

on paper only the first two are more interesting, the rest depend on whether the underdogs can rise up tot he occasion or not. Avalos as the least chance for that imo and Gausha has the most

#SmokeSquad don't negotiate through tweets :scusthov: contracts probably already been sent/about to be if they're talking fighting in Dec/Jan

I doubt it.

Mikey Garcia and them just started talking about Easter seriously like 7 days ago lol

And they may not negotiate through twitter, but they surely doing a lot of talking thru fighthype.com. Send the contract, then it's #ManDown

The last "top heavyweight" that watched a Wilder fight ended up getting beat up after the fight and pressed charges.....we don't need anymore lawsuits from guys shook to face us, but would rather sue us:bombzquad:
