well thats your view breh lol..but remember when we had that discussion about roy jones and the cruiserweight division...you thought roy could still become a legit champion there and i told you roy was food..none of the champs and top contenders there are US based
Cruiserweight is a red headed stepchild division that nobody REALLY wants to be in...and it's always been that way since it's inception.
There's NEVER been a "big money" or "superfight" at Cruiserweight for a reason. Not One.
And i said Roy should fight Toney, Tarver or Hopkins for a vacant title at Cruiserweight...i didn't say anything about him being able to beat any title holders.
my thing is i do think a star profile can be enhanced by fighting in america..crossover there in some fashion and youre good but i dont really believe like i used to that you have to beat US based fighters to be big time..esp if the talent level of a division is not really that special
If by "big time" you mean needing to beat a "US based" fighter to gain a large fanbase...NO...that's not what i'm saying.
Places like the UK gas up mediocrity, and standards are much lower to gain a large following over there than it is in the U.S. The higher ceiling for maximizing your drawing power is and always has been in the U.S. Although that might be slowly changing.
But at any given time, in just about every weight class...the top fighters are US based...and you're going to have to go thru them to gain and/or maintain legitimacy.
