Is it me, or should Broner be the favorite against Mikey Garcia?

-Garcia looked terrible at 140, sure he was coming off of a lay off, but Ward and Mayweather coming off lay-offs NEVER looked that bad. Dude stayed in the gym and is only 29 with 30+ professional bouts, I'm not buying the layoff excuse. 140 ain't good for him.
-Broner has looked immaculate at 140
-Broner'll be moving back down, lots of his power and speed will be retained at the lower weight
-Garcia's never faced any elite black fighters. In fact, he had trouble with the only black fighter I know of that he fought, Cornelius Lock.
-If this were '13 or '14 when Mikey was creeping up on the p4p lists, at 130, the 5-1 favorite thing would make sense. Here, it simply doesn't. For all we know, he may not even be the best 135 fighter today.
-I honestly don't think either guy is "at their peak" career wise, but physically Broner hasn't slipped near as far as advertised. That 5-1 shyt got him in the zone. It's highly disrespectful and if I were a betting man, I'm taking those odds without blinking.
-Yes, I do think Broner runs through Mikey's competition a lot easier than Mikey would run through his. Salido would be his toughest test at 130. Mikey against Porter, Maidana, or Granados at 147? Good luck with that...

Now, with all that said, it's still a great match-up on paper. But 5-1? Hell, I don't even think Garcia should be the favorite...

Same way I feel:hubie:

Garcia hasn't ever fought at 140. The 'worst' he ever looked at 130 was against Rocky Martinez, who he KO'd in 8 rounds, although getting caught with a flash KD. I agree with the odds being ridiculous. Broners size is being overrated, and Mikey's boxing underrated IMO/

Yes he did.

He fought at 140 vs Elio Rojas last July.

Agreed on all points. Mikey slow calculated style plays into AB's hands. But for whatever reason people think AB won't be focused and ready to go. We just gotta prove them wrong

Arum defends Pacquiao-Horn scorecards

During the Pacquiao-Horn post-fight presser caught by FightHype, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum gives his take on the judges official scorecards that awarded Jeff Horn a stunning unanimous decision victory. Check out what he had to say about the controversial scores...

“In the first two rounds two of the judges had it for Jeff, both rounds, and one judge had the first round for Jeff and the second round for Manny. So that’s quite correct that and I thought that Jeff, watching it, had gotten off to a big lead. And then Manny came back, and then Jeff did well at the end. That’s how it was. That’s like an Ali-Fraizer fight...”

There’s been quite a lot of uproar about the scoring in this fight, and I’ve seen a wide ranges of scores from fans and media which really demonstrates that it wasn’t the easiest fight to score — although nearly everyone seems to agree that Pacquiao deserved the win.

Expect this debate to carry on for the foreseeable future, or at least until the next high profile controversy pops up.

Manny Pacquiao, Freddie Roach, and Bob Arum all in agreement that Pacquiao lost....so where are the "robbery" talks coming from when the A-Side is in unison with being ok with the decision?:yeshrug:

Manny also thinks he beat floyd. Like I said yesterday, I don't need a jewcac, to think for me. The only rounds horn didn't clearly lose were rounds 2,6, and 10.

Still doesn't answer the question.

If Pacquiao is in agreement he lost, Freddie Roach is in agreement he lost, Bob Arum is in agreement he lost, the Judges are in agreement he lost, then the tossing around of the word "robbery" is a little overboard.

Losing by 1 round on 2 of 3 cards does not = robbery especially when the A Side agrees they lost.

The 117-111 scorecard may have been a little wide, but at the end of the day...the correct man's arm was raised.

And after 9 rounds, I had Horn winning the 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 8th....I stopped scoring after that round but Horn already had 5 rounds on my card entering the 10th round:hubie:
