Bacskai vs Harcsa Grudge Match Comes Saturday in Hungary
by Tamas Pradarics
Former amateur European Champion and Junior World Championships gold medalist Balazs Bacskai is having his professional debut on June 10 in Hungary. The sold-out show at the Sporthall in the city of Budakalasz is going to give the fans a historic main event: this will be the first time a boxer is fighting for a Hungarian Title on his first pro night.
Bacskai is taking on fellow experienced amateur and eight-bout pro, Norbert Harcsa. The participants were once teammates. Harcsa (8-0, 1 KOs) won a silver medal at a Junior European Championships alongside with other medals on international competitions before he switched to the paid ranks in late 2015.
Animosity is on between these two middleweight pugilists since their junior days. This is one of the reasons why is this a highly anticipated grudge match in Hungary with unusually impressive media activity surrounding the event.
On the co-feature bout of the evening, hard-hitting 154-pounder Zoltan Kispal (7-1, 5 KOs) faces experienced Laszlo Fazekas (30-27-1-1, 18 KOs) for the vacant super welterweight Hungarian Title.
Reigning WBO European super featherweight belt holder Zoltan Kovacs (19-5-1, 6 KOs) takes on undefeated Dato Nanava (8-0, 3 KOs) in a non-title bout scheduled for eight frames.
Spectators in the arena and viewers in front of television sets are fortunate to experience special appearances of two unbeaten and talented Ukranian fighters on the program.
Former World Championships and 2012 Olympic silver medalist Denys Berinchyk (5-0, 3 KOs) faces veteran former flyweight world champion Lorenzo Parra (32-10-2, 19 KOs) in a scheduled eight-round bout.
Featherweight Oleg Malynovskyi (19-0, 5 KOs) takes on heavy-handed Brazilian journeyman Isaias Santos Sampaio (21-12, 21 KOs) in another eight-rounder.
Other important up-and-comers Balazs Torteli, Jozsef Darmos, Ferenc Berki Jr and Renato Egedi will be in action in separated bouts.
The event is being promoted by leading Hungarian manager/promoter Felix Racz’s Felix Promotion and will be televised by Hungarian Sports Broadcaster M4 Sport as well as by a Ukranian TV station. Tickets were sold out in a heartbeat for this event.
