Broner also dropped Porter.

I'm just trying to see cause people seem to think that's what's gonna keep Spence from pressing Keith for 12 rounds and I don't see it, the way he was eating Brooks best punches. I don't believe anyone at 47 will keep Spence off them. Something that will just be argued until we see them in the ring.

Porter was dropped because at that point he was in complete control & "relaxed" for a moment & got clipped with something he didn't expect. With Thurman he knew he couldn't relax because at any time he could be hurt by a shot.

there are 2 different types of punching power breh

the sharpshooter, explosive type of power, usually these are the guys who possess one punch KO power but they usually not pressure fighters but rather boxer-punchers, ambush fighters, idk... more rangy fighters. They gain their punching power from their motion and speed and their punches are sharp. However these fighters often just throw one-twos and then jump out so the opponent has more time to back down and recover. These are usually not the fighters you see just walk down thier opponent ad beat him up with accumulation on the ropes.

Thurman is this type of fighter, he punches strong as fukk when he can gain leverage on his punches but he isn't the type of heavy handed pressure fighter who just gonna walk you down and beat you up, up close, on the ropes, etc... with accumulation. As Thurman's opponent's went up in quality they more and more could absorb those 1-2 sharp power punches and could step back and survive cause Thurman didn't walk them down. You could see how he almost KO Guerrero but after that Guerrero went up close and was more comfortable there. Thurman isn't the guy who's gonna KO your ass in a phone booth war, he is the most dangerous when you're mid range/far from him and he has space to jump at you.

The other type of power are the guys with simply heavy hands and thudding power. They usually destroy their opponents with accumulation of shots, they are usually pressure fighters. Their punches can snap too but generally they rather work mid range or up close with short hooks, uppercuts, etc... than jumping in with straights or wide shots like the first category.

some fighters from the sharpshooter, ambush type: Thurman, Haye, Stevenson, Wilder, Rigo

to the heavy handed type: Joshua, Spence, Golovkin, Gassiev, Matthysse, Beterbiev
Then there seems to be guys who are a combination of both. Like Julian Jackson, Randall Bailey, Earnie Shavers Kudryashov. I could be wrong but they just had odd power like they could hurt you with any punch AND turn your lights out at any range. And with BOTH hands :gucci:

yeah there are those rare guys too, they scary

Kudryashov is rather the heavy handed version though I mean I don't see him that explosive

Kovalev is also a mixture of both of these styles. Not exactly this or that but a mixture

You may be right about heavy handed. Some of the guys he puts out go to sleep but some shyt where he grazes guys like @ 2:25

I think G Man could possibly be in this category. That guy was :hhh:
Don't quite know where to place Naseem Hamed. For a guy his size he could crack

Yeah probably. I remember they used to have specials on him. He was sparring heavyweights and they could feel his power. He also had unorthodox technique but you could see how he used his legs to generate a ton of power.

if u hit spence with something good to buzz him,he will move around the ring a lil more. he did that in the 7th rd but he still won that rd...so it not like he cant fight moving.

but in the 8th rd he went right back at brook with the pressure.....so to keep spence off him hes gonna really have hurt bad...maybe drop him if not spence just gonna start coming in digging to the body again like he did kell.

Yep.

He got some of that Tijuana Tornado in him when it comes to eating your biggest shots, then coming back the next round with a mixture of a :feedme::demonic: attitude:whew:

Randall Bailey's left is almost as useless as Stevenson's right:heh:

Thurman's power is getting underrated a lil like canelos power is now. They might not have the devastating power people initially thought they were carrying, but still, no one is going to eat punches from either of those two and still be effective. Truly, Keith has looked the most vulnerable when he tires himself out shooting for a KO; Swift, Porter, and Ghost, who all have sturdy chins, were noticeably hurt by Keith, and really only saw success when Keith tired himself out.

I'd definitely pick Spence to win in a matchup against Thurman, but I'm really curious to see what Keith and his team try to do to upset Spence's work rate in the ring.

So where is Errol Spence on the Coli's Pound for Pound list?

:lupe:

BTW, how come there isn't an official Coli P4P thread?

:lupe:

...not sure who'd moderate it tho
