Brook: Khan is a Media Whore, Likes To Get Done in For Money!

KELL BROOK has labelled Amir Khan a “media whore” who doesn’t mind getting “done in” for big money.
The Sheffield star is at his training camp in Fuerteventura preparing to defend his IBF welterweight title against American Errol Spence Jnr on May 27 at Bramall Lane.
Bitter rival Khan will be ringside at the home of Sheffield United working as a TV pundit.

But while Brook is heading for one of his biggest nights, Khan’s career has stalled since his knockout defeat by Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez a year ago in Las Vegas.
The former light-welterweight world champion has not fought since and has undergone hand surgery as well as dealing with fall outs between his family and friends.
But Brook showed no sympathy as he stuck the boot in on his foe over his family issues and career.
He said: “It’s comical. He is Amir Khadashian. He has so much drama around him, he is in the paper all the times for the wrong reasons. It’s all good, it’s funny.
“I have heard he is a bit skint and has problems with his dad. I am hearing his wife wants a big fancy house.”
Khan and Brook have so far failed to agree a deal for a fight that could be worth around £30m.
But the Bolton boxer came out last week and insisted he wants to get it on before the end of the year.
Brook said: “It’s annoying when he talks about me but that’s what he does. When (UFC star) Conor McGregor has something going on he starts telling the world he wants to fight him.
“He is a media whore, he wants it. I think he’s after a big-money fight and he knows he would get done in, but he doesn’t mind getting done in for money. I think he wants it.
“Maybe with these big fights that have been happening lately - Bellew vs Haye, Joshua vs Klitschko, Golovkin vs Canelo - fighters have the bit between their teeth now and want to step up and fight.
“I am sat here and I get asked questions about him all the time and does my head in. It grinds me. It’s just a fight that I don’t need an alarm on my phone to wake me up for. It would be a really fun fight to build and have.
“The paying public and the fans want to see it and I just want to give it to them. Will it happen? We have to wait and see.”
Sky Sports Box Office will show Brook vs Spence Jr and Groves v Chudinov exclusively live. Order at skysports.com/brook

Enrollment for the inaugural season of boxing`s first global knock-out tournament started on Monday, and Comosa has been swamped with applications. Starting in September, eight elite cruiserweights and eight elite super-middleweights will battle out a bracket-style elimination tournament to win the GREATEST prize in boxing, the Muhammad Ali Trophy.
“World champions, contenders and even some surprise catchweight contestants have already applied,” said Kalle Sauerland, Comosa`s Head of Boxing. “The interest in the World Boxing Super Series has surpassed even our wildest expectations. As each weight class can only feature eight stars, the Board will have some tough decisions to make.”
Until May 26, all WBA, WBC, WBO and IBF Champions as well as all top 15 world-ranked contenders (or their respective promoters, agents, managers or trainers with legal entitlement) can submit their application to enter the tournament. All applicants will be verified and evaluated by Comosa’s sports division. The Comosa Board will then contract eight fighters per weight class as well as potential back-ups to ensure there will be no postponements.
“The response from the enrollment period has been overwhelming and competition is hot for places in the two weight classes for Season 1,” said Richard Schaefer, Comosa`s Chairman of the Americas. “It is a great process and we are having an open dialogue with promoters, managers and fighters from around the world. It’s wonderful to see such enthusiasm. The Gala in Monte Carlo is going to be a big showcase of the world’s finest talents.”
In early July, Comosa will present all 16 fighters – eight in the cruiserweight and eight in the super-middleweight division – on the same stage in a live TV show in Monaco. In each weight class, the four top seeds will select their quarter-final opponents from the four unseeded boxers. The tournament then kicks off in September with four quarterfinals, two semi-finals (early 2018) and one final (May 2018) per division.

After losing to Canelo, Khan underwent surgery on a long-standing hand injury and was granted a medical extension to his mandatory status by the WBC. That has now expired, meaning a new No 1 has been made. The WBC originally looked to Tim Bradley, who was at No 2, to see if he would participate in a final eliminator but he declined, according to the WBC.
Shawn Porter was then matched with Andre Berto in a final eliminator and Porter - a former IBF champion - stopped Berto to become Thurman's mandatory challenger, setting up a potential rematch between the pair after Thurman defeated Porter last year.
