Yep if that's Kovalevs right hand with all his weight behind it it'd be nap time for Ward.

Ward was in a really bad position to get hit right there, and that's what caused the knockdown. If Dre was hurt by any of the punches it would have been the jabs from the 2nd round, not really the KD punch

That gif is a perfect angle of the punch and I was thinking the same thing. Ward got hit with h the punch earlier before Kovalev could extend his arm because he was moving in. Shows how boxing can be a game of inches. Ward got hit while moving in, so it is reasonable he got dropped em but it didn't look like a truly damaging punch. Had Kovalev just had a little more room on that punch it would have been lights out. You would have to have a godly chin to survive Kovalev's full right hand landing flush.

i think so. so many knockouts in boxing come from two guys trading a pair of right hands. you can make a good argument being hit by a right hand when you are trading a pair of right hands is the hardest punch you can be hit by in boxing.
