You think Roy Jones would've fought Lennox Lewis, Vitali or Wladamir Klitschko at heavyweight without a catchweight?
he wouldnt even fight them tbh, he saw a weak opp in ruiz and jumped on it.... crazy how he was so smart in that sense at that time compared to what hes doing now.

And he tried to negotiate a fight with Evander Holyfield, but it fell thru. Speaking to the bolded, isn't that the same thing Canelo did by fighting Cotto?:mjpls:

telling a heavyweight to come in at a catchweight in itself is :mjlol:...im sure lewis, wlad, and vitali would have laughed him out of the room....shyt roy had to bulk up for ruiz..prolly will be the last cat to win the heavyweight belt at sub 200 for a while

yup, i had no problem with him doing that.. he saw he chance to become a champ at a different wieght class and went for it... but there is a pretty big difference and im sure u know it too... roy at the end of the day fought a true heavywieght... canelo fought a true 147 pounder, idk if i could even call him a true 154 ponder let alone a true 160 pounder... roy didnt hold the belt hostage niether, he dropped it and let the true heavys fight for it.

Cotto fought 3 fights at Middleweight...at a catchweight of 159 when beat Sergio Martinez, catchweight of 158 when he beat Daniel Geale, and catchweight of 155 when he lost to Canelo.

Canelo only fought 2 fights at Middleweight...both at catchweights of 155 (Cotto/Khan)

Just because he can rehydrate doesn't mean that he's "really" anything, he's a Junior Middleweight, because he can still make 155. Once again, is Daniel Geale "really" a Super Middleweight because he rehydrated to Cruiserweight against Cotto? No. You are what you can make. Canelo is a Junior Middleweight who's fighting at 155.

Not true.

Roy Jones Jr won the Heavyweight belt on March 1st, 2003 & didn't drop it until February 20, 2004....almost a full year later.

Canelo won the Middleweight Championship November 21st, 2015 and, as of today, has only held the belt for a little less than 6 months now.

Neither has Canelo...but people call him a true Middleweight:yeshrug:

They've both weighed in at the same exact career high 155.

He tried to, but Holyfield backed out at the last minute. Even after RJJ dropped down to Light Heavyweight and fought Tarver 8 months after winning the strap, he still held the Heavyweight Championship for 3 more months before finally vacating it.

Canelo's had the belt for only 5 months in comparision.

i dont :skip:

ive always been a canelo fan, i think i might have been the first on here.... i remember watching him fight on azteca when he was a nobody, before he fought miguel cotto older brother... and i low key dont want him to fight ggg cuz i think ggg would hurt him and it wont be good for his career, ive siad before that oscar would be smart not to put him in there with him... BUT if hes going to have that green 160 belt he has to fight the best at 160 now.... if he didnt have the belt and wanted to fight anyone at 155 he can do that all day, i have zero issues with that, even if ggg wanted to fight him.... but i think him having the belt right now is making things worse for him, its making the fight happen by the people... if he dropped the belt and let ggg fight for it, ggg might be pusshed to move up after having all the belts and the fight never happens between the two.

I agree with you.

He should've beaten Cotto, won the belt, and then dropped it the following week saying he's not a true Middleweight imo.

from the home of coca-cola, i'm not referring to s
And all Roy's 175 Titles were on the line at that. B-Hop didn't respect his own name :birdman:which is why he didn't take the fight at the time. :russ:. Him and Calzaghe waited for RJJ to lose after the weight drop to finally step up. B!tch move if you ask me, especially if they bringing up RJJ name in every interview.

Yea looking back, Roy had them two nikkas shook to move up :mjlol:

Angulo, Kirkland, and Lara were fought at Middleweight as well right?
