breh im not a fan of vargas..never been..hell i think he should have got a few losses before the official one to timmy (josesito lopez for one :francis:)..but dude did his thing..seeing that Ali KO live was :ohlawd:...with that being said if that fight happens, brook wins that and takes jessie's belt away..if vargas pulled the upset he'd be the number 1 welter barnone over thurman and swift
Vargas been getting gifts I agree. You were in the house for the Ali KO? Sick. Ali still IMO had a lot of Amateur tendencies IE pulling back in a straight line without having his shoulder/hand up, hence how he got KTFO by a light hitting WW. Vargas first step up (BATB) he got embarrassed :manny: I think Brook puts him on the summer jam screen. But if he somehow beats Brook he'd be #2 WW until he lost to BATB again. #1 RN is Swift/Manny (bc I don't believe he's retired)

Not touching kids, unlike some members in your stable :gag:

matter of fact how are the rest of your stable...not the most active (or winning) bunch are they? :sas1: ... might be time to look toward the future breh

salido though is still a quality fighter..he gets into wars and gives boxing lessons to amateurs with flighty footwork in the interim..:salute: siri

Rances Barthelemy to face Mickey Bey on June 3
By Scott Christ@scottchristBLH on Apr 29, 2016, 2:12p +

Rances_0.0.0.jpg

Andy Samuelson/Premier Boxing Champions Rances Barthelemy will defend his IBF title against Mickey Bey in a PBC on Spike main event.

IBF lightweight titleholder Rances Barthelemy will put his belt up against former titlist Mickey Bey in a June 3 main event from Hollywood, Florida, with Spike airing the PBC event.

Barthelemy (24-0, 13 KO) beat Denis Shafikov on December 18 to win the vacant title, months after it was stripped from Bey for failing to meet Shafikov in a mandatory defense in Macau. Bey (22-1-1, 10 KO) scored a highly controversial win over Miguel Vazquez in September 2013 to win the belt, and never made a defense.

The 29-year-old Barthelemy is also a former IBF super featherweight titleholder, beating Algenis Mendez in the summer of 2014, then making one defense against Argentina's Fernando David Saucedo.

Bey, 32, fought on the same December 18 card that featured Barthelemy's win over Shafikov, defeating Naim Nelson in a non-televised bout by 10-round decision.

The fights will be held at Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hotel & Casino, and promoted by Mayweather Promotions, King's Promotions, and Panther Promotions.

Dan Rafael chat wrap 4/29:

- Who is Canelo more likely to fight in the fall if he defeats Khan (Cotto or Pacquiao)? Not convinced either will happen, but a Cotto rematch is more likely than a Pacquiao fight.
- Kovalev said he is too small to make cruiserweight and is happy staying at LH, which he feels he makes comfortably.
- HBO is hoping to show Kovalev vs. Chilemba, but is still working out the logistics (it would be on a Monday here).
- The Ward vs. Kovalev deal is signed and the target fight date is Nov. 19.
- Rodriguez vs. Williams could be a really good fight.
- Ortiz vs. Berto? Berto by KO...maybe early.
- DeGale to beat Medina easily, Bute to pull an upset vs. Jack.
- Seeing a DeGale vs. Froch fight would be interesting. DeGale is more skilled, but Froch is a good puncher with a lot of will to win.
- A DeGale vs. Dirrell rematch is okay. Believes DeGale has more interesting fights available to him, but if a Dirrell rematch happens it is an okay fight.
- JMM says he wanted a summer tune-up, but hasn't heard anything on that. A fall fight with Cotto is still possible. Thinks it could be a mini event like RJJ-Trinidad.
- All signals from GB point to them not making a GGG fight in the fall. A Cotto rematch is certainly possible.
- Brook's camp has brought up fighting GGG, but he doubts it gets made. GGG beats up Brook bad.
- RJJ was off his rocker to suggest GGG vs. Morgan Fitch should fight.
- The reports of GGG vs. Lemiuex 2 are false.
- Agrees with Max Kellerman's comparison of Tyson and GGG. Kellerman was talking about the excitement around their fights and the expectation for a KO.
- In regards to ODH talking about GGG not wanting to fight Hopkins...ODH gets carried away sometimes.
- His understanding is if GGG vs. Canelo is not made, GGG-Jacobs will be ordered.
- Does not believe that GGG vs. Canelo needs to marinate more to be more successful. The real reason is ODH is afraid of having his cash cow lose.
- March 7, 2017 in Cowboys Stadium, GGG vs. Canelo? Could see it happening.
- Likes a fight of Brook vs. Vargas, but is very skeptical it will get done.
- The Vargas vs. Salido fight will go on. There is a call today between the commission, the promoters, fighter camps, and VADA; sure it will get ironed out. Likely Vargas will be subject to heavy testing going forward.
- 99% of the time he believes that when fighters test positive they were guilty and know it. In the cases of Vargas and Browne, he believes there may have been no intentional reason by the fighter to dope.
- GB is saying that Vargas tested positive for Clenbuterol, which is used in meat in Mexico. Previously when Vargas has been tested he was training in the US and tested negative. This time he was training in Mexico.
- Lomachenko will likely vacate his 126 lb title, which Valdez is likely to fight for. A fight vs. Marriaga would be interesting.
- If both Salido and Lomachenko win, could see a rematch taking place.
- Showtime really wants to show Wilder vs. Povetkin live, but Espinoza is having a hard time negotiating with the Russian promoters.
- Thought Chocolatito did enough work to KO most other flyweights, but Arroyo was tough and determined to give it his all.
- Has not heard any criticism of Chocolatito's performance. He dominated a tough contender.
- Thinks Khan does have a chance to win with his speed and boxing ability, but is going to pick Canelo.
- Breazeale probably lasts as long vs. Joshua as Martin did.
- Hearn was in NY this week trying to get a network to pick up Joshua vs. Breazeale, still undecided if/how it will be shown in the US.
- Uchiyama upset was huge. He was in a really good long title reign.
- Awful card tonight, neither Dirrell brother is matched up against a good opponent.
- Spence is ready to fight anyone right now.
- Linares is still getting over his hand injury (saw him at the GGG fight).
- Algieri is probably not going to be a contender level fighter again. He can fight quality guys and give them a good fight.
- More intimidating: Hagler or Tyson? Tyson.
- Has no idea if Fury is taking the Klitschko rematch serious. When he was at the Wilder fight in January, Fury was drinking alcohol like it was apple juice.
- Hopes we see Garcia vs. the winner of Thurman-Porter, but definitely not a done deal.
- Thoughts on Verdejo? Jury's out. Many fighters go through growing pains.
- No news on Quillin.
- Jacobs vs. Lee is possible, but there is no deal at this point.
- Current fighters with best resumes? Hopkins, Cotto, and JMM.
- Liked Mannix's recent article on how the boxing establishment always blames the media.
- Writer's Katz and Borges got into a fight a few years ago.
- Fan wrote in saying he received comped tickets to Ortiz vs. Berto. PBC is known to give away a lot of tickets.
- Salido for the HOF? No.
- Barthelemy vs. Bey on June 3, PBC on Spike.
- Agrees that Postol has a chance to beat Crawford.
- Montiel had a good career. A real pro.
