Cotto fighting at Barclays in June

PBC shoulda been had that date locked up is my point...Nobody has beaten Swifts attendance at Barclay's not even Cotto...it woulda been easy for them to get that date since thats Garcias "home"

That woulda meant Cotton falls back N doesn't go H2H with Danny...instead takes the other June date that was open until jus a week ago... Loma vs Walters with Verdejo on the undercard getting the PR Crowd

June should a been Dannys date for a couple years now...they've wasted an opportunity N now Bob is grooming Verdejo for that
PBC can't take any date it wants from Barclays, especially not if RNS wants it. They have a close relationship with the Barclays people that goes beyond the Nets. The CEO of Barclays Center is the twin brother of the President of Branding at RN. So they can get any date they want in Brooklyn. Danny has no shot at stealing the date from Cotto at Barclays.

Barclays even refused the Klitschko/Jennings fight once RNS wasn't promoting Jennings anymore.

That's the type of pull Floyd/Haymon have in Vegas.

@MIAlien thoughts on this?

The catchweight is consistent with what I was told about Cotto's limits. And JMM was one of the first names I was told about after the Canelo fight, along with Swift. My understanding was the JMM/Cotto fight would happen while Cotto was with RNS.

And I forgot how many fights Cotto has left on the deal, but I don't think RNS cares much about keeping Cotto now that they got the huge fight out of him and a rematch/trilogy isn't in the cards. They've been building up their stable and this big name stuff is just a way to keep their name in the game while they grow a pool of young talent.

I doubt TR is outbidding them for Cotto if they want him back though.

And this Gaby stuff sounds like they found their sacrificial lamb that allows them to do business with Cotto without looking quite as stupid.

jay needs a boxing head in his operations and for someone to tell him no one gives a shyt about concerts during a fight card unless they walking with a boxer to the ring
They have boxing people, but that's not their call. And I don't see the problem with performances in between fights, when there's dead time, as long as they have the right artists.

I like Bud and all but he aint no PPV fighter yet.
Does Crawford have an HBO exclusive deal? If not then Bob needs to start shopping Crawford's fights around to other networks and hold off on the PPV stuff because when Top Rank spends the majority of time hyping up the amount of nachos sold at the venue instead of telling us how many PPV buys the card had its gonna reflect poorly on Crawford.
Tr fukking up. But damn near every tr fighter is loyal as hell.

Charlo-Trout title fight on Ortiz-Berto II card?
i

The fight between former welterweight titleholders Victor Ortiz and Andre Berto, slated to meet on April 30 on Fox in prime time at the StubHub Center in Carson, California, is set but the reason Premier Boxing Champions has not yet formally announced it is because it has been getting the co-feature squared away.

Announcement is expected any day as a news conference is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday. But the co-feature ticketed for the card is Jermall Charlo (23-0, 18 KOs), 25, of Houston, making his second world title defense against former titleholder Austin Trout (30-2, 17 KOs), 30, of Las Cruses, New Mexico, who has won four fights in a row since back-to-back losses to Canelo Alvarez and Erislandy Lara in 2013. However, there is a chance Trout may forego the shot at Charlo and challenge England’s Liam Smith (22-0-1, 12 KOs), 27, of England, for a shot at his version of the 154-pound title instead.

The original Ortiz-Berto co-feature -- hence the delay -- was supposed to be a heavyweight fight between former two-time world title challenger Chris Arreola (36-4-1, 31 KOs), 35, of Riverside, California, and 2012 U.S. Olympian Dominic Breazeale (17-0, 15 KOs), 30, of Alhambra, California.

But two weeks ago, just before he was supposed to go to training camp in San Diego with trainer Henry Ramirez, Arreola fractured his right foot.

“Chris got home and was stepping out of his car and he got his foot stuck in the gap between the grass and the concrete on the driveway,” Ramirez told ESPN.com. “I saw the pictures and it was pretty grotesque. The swelling has gone down now but Chris is going back to the doctor. We’ll see how long he is going to be out for, but we had agreed to the fight with Breazeale. It would have been a good fight. Hopefully, it can be rescheduled.”

In his last fight, on Dec. 12 on NBC, Arreola won a majority decision against Travis Kauffman in San Antonio. However, the decision was changed to a no decision on Jan. 5 because Arreola failed his drug test. He tested positive for marijuana, a banned substance, and was suspended for 90 days beginning from the date of the fight, meaning it would have been over by the time he was scheduled to face Breazeale.

In Breazeale’s last fight, on Jan. 23 on Fox, he struggled badly and got dropped before an injured Amir Mansour retired on his stool after the fifth round.
