fighters were truly tough back then..fighting 50 rounds and shyt with the equivalent of prolly 4 oz gloves on their hands
Not to mention it wasn't uncommon to average 15-30 fights a year in those days...and in most of those fights it was top tier opposition facing off against eachother....but for the "sports science & medicine" advanced boxers of today...a tough, 'grueling' schedule in modern times would be... 4 fights in a year, one with an elite champ/contender, one with a lower level contender and two against fringe contenders/journeymen all at 12 rds max :heh:

Jeanette went 49 rds with McVea...then fought two weeks after that (KO1) and fought 3 weeks after that fight in a 20 rd fight...and by the end of the year he fought McVea again in a 30 rd fight :wow:

That's like 10 years of modern pro fight experience squeezed into one year.

Floyd's body 'breaking down' after 49 fights using 8/10 oz. gloves in bouts that max out at 12 rds...with countless vacations in between :mjlol:

You can see why so many historians have a hard time rating modern 'greats' up there with guys like Langford, Greb, Gans etc. when you take into account that modern boxers just aren't as physically capable as alot of boxers in the past...there shoud be no dispute that human beings were physically tougher and more durable in those times....because of daily, strenuous activity which was the norm for an avg male in those times...just to get simple everyday activities completed....from youth to adulthood...where today, even our elite athletes are accustomed to spending hrs hunched over infront of video games, TV's, cell-phones & smart devices...and aren't raised in the same type of enviroments that are conducive to molding physical & mental toughness...on the same level as shown in that video...
Breh the closest thing I can think of is the 100 man kumite in kyokushin karate. That shyt is an absolute nighmare. Face 100 dudes 1 after another and each of them is fresh.
And imagine boxing in those days with maulers like Jack Dempsey. They had to change to the neutral corner rule because of what he did to Jess Willard and holy shyt that man was damaged badly that it made what Magarito did to Cotto seem like a love tap.

it was that rule that also cost dempsey from being the first heavyweight to regain the title too

Another Gold Medal
this is one of my favourite fights ever
i feel like ppl underrate it
this was a thoro and masterful beat down by shane
beat the ever living shyt out of cheato

One of my GOAT fights as well. Mosley had the :demonic: look in his eyes from the walk in.

Dunno if it was the divorce n her taking his belts or the shyt with Marg's wraps but Mosley looked like he wanted to catch a body that night.

every boxer who has seen brook fight agrees that he woud beat the top american wws.

Then why doesn't he fight them breh? :sas1:

he will have to fight these forced mandatories until one of the other so called champions attempt a unification. all attempts from brooks side have been dismissed by the americans. even floyd says brock is the most skilled ww out there.

What attempts from Brook's side? Don't suppose you have any sources to back this claim up? While you're at it, how bout you provide a link to Floyd calling Brook the most skilled WW. I'll wait... :sas2:

The sad thing is, I do think Brook has the ability to be competitive with any of the top welterweights, but we'll never know because he's content to hide out in the UK and fight truck drivers and day labourers. It's a damn shame.

I think it was definitely the wraps thing. From the ring walk Brother Naz n Shane looked like their main goal was to humiliate and embarrass Cheato...........and they did :blessed::blessed:

I still remember Lampley or Merchant being :merchant: "The commission announced they found something and margaritos wraps" cut to Naz with the  look

shyt was amazing

The IBF is very strict about the mandatories
Yes they are...but they only require you to do a mandatory defense once every 9 months:

1. Mandatory Defense Obligation
Each Champion so recognized by the IBF/USBA in his respective weight
class from Mini Flyweight to Cruiserweight shall mandatorily defend his
Championship within nine (9) months after its acquisition by him in a contest
scheduled for twelve (12) rounds against a leading available contender as designated
by the Championships Chairman.
Once this initial mandatory defense obligation has been satisfied, the
Champion shall defend his championship within intervals of no more than nine (9)
months against the leading available contender in his weight class as designated by
the Championships Chairman.

In Brook's case, come March, it will already be his 3rd mandatory defense in 12 months while the IBF rule only requires 1 defense in that same time period.

He's hiding out with the belt overseas:yeshrug:
