@LauderdaleBoss
I got around to rewatching Byrd vs Oquendo the other night breh
Chris - rounds 1,6,10,11,12
Fres - rounds 2,3,4,5,7,8,9
Fres 115-113
I thought Fres put in work in the majority of the early and middle rounds and made it awkward for Chris..Chris couldn't hurt him..however I do think Fres should have been docked points for the rabbit punching and shyt...ill never forget how he basically ended the fight with mo harris with a chop to the back of the head and got away with that as a KO ..however Fres gassed late as usual..and Byrd won the last 3 rounds...basically doing what he did against mccline in trying to really score a late round KO..i had forgot that Fres might have actually scored a KD late but it was ruled a slip
on to the McCline fight later tonight
First off. for being a man of your word and taking the time to rewatch and rescore the fight.
With that said, and with your scores, along with the dirty tactics (tackles) and rabbit punching fukery that Oquendo was allowed to get away with.......
a fan of pure fisticuffs shouldn't be alarmed that a lesser talented challenger loss a competitive decision to the reigning champ under the above mentioned circumstances.
Which was my point in the 1st place. Oquendo did himself no favors by fighting like that and making a mockery out of the heavyweight championship.
Would you still call a fight that could have been 115-113 either way a robbery (especially when the challenger is applying Oquendo tactics)
I personally wouldn't.
I know that fight was a chore, but I know you'll enjoy rewatching the McCline fight.
Those Bryd #RapidFire combos during the mid rounds are. If Jameel ain't outweigh dude by 65 pounds, he prolly would have been stopped that night.
