that was back in 08 where we had prime cotto, pwill, and margs at 147. paul obviously wouldve stayed there for floyd, but floyd chose not to fight at all in 08 and came back pretty much when the dust was settling. he couldve fought either of those guys that year since they were all hbo fighters.

Floyd was retired at the time.

Listen, I would have loved to see the fight, but he didn't duck Paul Williams. That's what the argument is. Do you guys even remember Paul's time at WW? He started appearing on hbo in 2006 against Walter Matthysse. Eventually fought Margarito in late 2007. He lost in his next fight to Quintana. He avenged that lost & just suddenly moved up to 160.:mjlol:Here's the point I'm making. By the time Paul was really getting hot, he left the division. If you want these fights (mayweather, cotto, whoever) you gotta stick in around in the division.

Now do I feel Mayweather ducked Margarito? I'm on the fence on that one. The fact that he said his name in that article though makes me suspect that he did.

Cotto? Not really. He did attempt to make that fight when both where hot at 140 but TR declined

It's more about not getting the fights he wanted as opposed to no one wanting to fight him. Joshua Clottey wanted to fight him. Clottey isn't a money fight for Paul Williams. He did not have the status to land a Mayweather or Cotto yet. I don't think TR would have let Cotto fight Paul anyway but that's just speculation on my part.

Boxing is a business. He moved on to a division in search for the type of fights to give him the paydays he was looking for which is why he was trying to fight Pavilk, Winky, etc.

If you stick around a division opportunities will open up. Margarito grinded at 147 & eventually got Cotto, Mosley, & Pacquaio. Winky Wright grinded at 154 & eventually got Shane, Trinidad, & damn near got a fight with Oscar.

This is why GGG is just gonna stay at 160. You stay at your division, an opportunity WILL open up. If you move up, you can't expect guys in a different division to fight you.

They weren't willing to remain patient & stay at 147. Paul wasn't some big time draw that was entitled to a big fight.

Floyd would destroy Paul and fukk marg HE'S A CHEATER. good that Floyd didn't fight him. Y'all shouldn't even bring him up IMO. and Floyd beats any version of Cotto

It's the truth....from the man's own mouth. I had to listen to his stans give all types of excuses as to why Floyd didn't fight Margarito, listen to them say some bullshyt about "Bu-bu-but, Floyd fought everybody:to:", only for Floyd to come out and say it himself......no he didn't:banderas:

I'm happy:wow:

Klitschko 245.8, Fury 247
WBA/IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (64-3, 54 KOs) and unbeaten challenger Tyson Fury (24-0, 18 KOs) weighed in for their clash Saturday night in Dusseldorf, Germany.

Klitschko weighed 245.8 lbs. (111.5 kilos), while Fury scaled in at 247 lbs. (112 kilos). An intense face-off followed lasting 72 seconds before they were separated. During their face-to-face, Klitsche at 6’6 1/2 looked at least as tall as Fury, who is billed as 6’9.

Fury made his entry first, followed by Wlad, who extended his hand to shake with Fury. Fury refused. Wlad attempted again after the face-off, and this time Fury accepted. Now comes the long-awaited ruled meeting where Fury will try on his custom-made Paffen gloves. The Fury camp is still making rumblings about walking if the gloves aren’t to his liking.

Only media were allowed into today’s weigh-in. The reason given is extra security. The fight takes place at the 54,600-seat Esprit Arena, which will have it’s retractable roof closed and the heat turned on for fans attending the event.
