vanes is not even 30 though :patrice:...i thought he looked fine to me..nothing alarming...most fighters dont look good against ishe..it was ishe that looked washed up...vanes is not a big puncher and he almost knocked ishe out and ishe for all his faults is a durable guy

vanes however deserves a title shot..hopefully he puts his name in the hat for the wbc 154 tournament

williams-soro would be a step in the right direction of correcting that pesky matchmaking flaw i mention all the time and more importantly a step in getting these nikkas to mix it up at 154

@Knicksman20 i was thinking about who would win out of prime terry norris vs prime mike mccallum at jmw/154.:wow:

any thoughts?:jbhmm:

This would be a tremendous fight because of both fighters mentalities. This would look similar to the Mccallum vs Toney fight but with more vicious exchanges. Terrible Terry is one of my ATG favorite fighters ever but I'd have to go with the Body Snatcher on this one. He could pretty much do everything Terry could do but with a better chin. But when Terry was focused...:whoo:A focused Norris was a mean, bad man. He's one of the few fighters I would pick to KO a prime Floyd Mayweather.

yeah mccallum probably gets him cause of the chin but i think it would still be an exciting fight while it lasted .

yep, and i don't know if it's just me but spence has some similarities to norris in his game . i noticed yesterday after i was watching his old fights plus i think i remember spence saying he liked norris alot too.

On This Day: Roy Jones dominates James Toney in super-middleweight masterclass

Roy Jones looks sensational while Oscar De La Hoya shows his potential on the undercard, writes Matt Christie

RoyJonesJamesToney1-768x431.jpg

1. WITH hindsight, James Toney’s plans to invade the heavyweight division, voiced in the lead-up to his super-middleweight showdown with Roy Jones Jnr, were not the most promising. “Get me Michael Moorer, I’ll beat him too,” he cried. Jones, meanwhile, declared he would drop back down to 160lbs – where he was champ – once he had dealt with Toney at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on November 18, 1994.

2. TONEY, the IBF champion, arrived in Sin City a week before the showdown. Prior to that he had been preparing at Mickey Rourke’s Outlaw Gym in Hollywood – reportedly weighing 207lbs when he began training – while Jones honed his body inside the Great Gorge Spa Resort in New Jersey. From there Jones said: “I’m fine. I’m gonna win the fight. I go about my own business and concentrate on being the best I can be.”

3. “LIGHTS OUT” was typically confident, angry, amusing and disrespectful beforehand. “Jones is sayin’ I got dog in me and I ain’t playin’. It’s not personal, it’s business. His showboating don’t bother me either – let him try it! My confidence is always high. I’m training like a madman. I’m goin’ to knock the boy out! I never ducked nobody. I’ve fought in three weight divisions and on November 18 Jones will be in with a real fighter.”

4. BOTH Jones and Toney turned down pre-arranged purses beforehand, $2 million and $2.5 million respectively, and instead chose to take a share of the pay-per-view money. TVKO were selling the show at $29.95 and Toney was to make 45 per cent, compared to Jones’ 35. It was later reported the event sold around 300,000 buys, equating to just shy of $9 million. If all figures are correct, the fighters were right to snub the original offers.

5. TONEY, being champion, entered the ring last and walked straight over to Jones and glowered at him. The menace and 6-5 favourite started the quicker, but within two minutes of the opening bell, it was Jones who had taken control with his speed of hand that seemed to surprise Toney.

6. JONES got stronger. In the third and, after preening and larking, he got serious when with a right cross. Toney was caught off-balance and went down. Embarrassed but not hurt, Toney jumped to his feet and seethed as referee Richard Steele tolled to obligatory eight count.

7. TONEY showed flashes of his brilliance, but it was mostly one-sided and Jones, after avoiding any unnecessary danger in the 12th and final round, was awarded the unanimous decision via lopsided scores of 119-108, 118-109, and 117-111.

8. “I WAS never hurt at all,” claimed Toney. “He pushed me for the knockdown. I was never hurt. I’ll be back. I want a shot at the light-heavyweight title as soon as possible.”

9. TWO days after the loss, Toney was questioned by police over an allegation that he had threatened to kill his manager, Jackie Kallen. Detroit police launched an investigation after Toney’s mother told them that her son had left the house with a gun while voicing his intention to shoot Kallen. He was soon released and no formal complaint was filed.

10. STARRING on the undercard was Oscar De La Hoya who defended his WBO lightweight title when he flattened Carl Griffith in the third round with a delightful left hand. “I caught him with my ‘45’,” said Oscar afterwards, “it’s my best shot. I’m glad the ref stopped the fight because he could have gotten seriously hurt. I was surprised he got up.”

Exclusive: Deontay Wilder talks future Anthony Joshua fight

It’s been said on more than once that the future of heavyweight boxing lies in the hands of Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua as the two powerhouses continue their paths to an inevitable top division collision.

Previous predictions by promoter Eddie Hearn have placed Joshua in a world title fight by the end of 2016 or beginning of 2017, which puts the Olympic champion firmly in the frame to oppose Wilder within eighteen months.

American Wilder, 30, currently holds a vice-like grip on the coveted WBC title, with Joshua at number two in the championship rankings for the green belt having racked up 14 wins all inside three rounds since turning pro in 2013.

The two sharing the ring together is only whispered quietly by Hearn at this point as Joshua attempts to clean up domestically against Dillian Whyte, before eventually targeting the European title in the first half of next year. Having said that, at some point over the next twelve months Joshua will be made mandatory for Wilder’s belt should he keep progressing the way he has done so far and that would leave Hearn with a big decision to make.

In a recent interview with WBN, Wilder was asked his opinion on 26 year-old Joshua’s outstanding progress in the paid ranks and gave his own thoughts on a huge undefeated encounter, which he firmly believes is in the boxing public’s interest.

“I think Joshua has been doing a good job winning his fights and beating the guys in front of him. You got to congratulate him for his success,” Wilder exclusively told World Boxing News.

“His goal is to become the heavyweight champion of the world and I’m always looking forward to a new challenge to keep the division alive and give the people the fights they want to see. We are always looking for the up and coming guys and he’s one of those guys.

“One he is ready to fight for the title I’m going to be around. I’m not going nowhere, no matter who I fight. I think if we fought it would be an exciting fight,” ‘The Bronze Bomber’ added before giving a final shout-out to the British fans.

“I like the UK fans as they stick behind their fighters and build them up whether they are 10-0 or 0-10. I think the UK has some of the best fans around,” stated Wilder.

WELL #SHOOKBOYS couldn't keep it 100. Even the 97G was after we added streams, coli numbers, twitter, backyard bbq numbers, split screen CFB numbers and we even counted the tvs were showing the fight at MSG. 97G is the only fighter to make hot dog stands so popular, heard he broke the record for less toilet times used by attendees ever. Fight was too good breh. They didn't even wanna piss :ohlawd:

#shookboys been quiet lately and I am issuing a threat right now to @patscorpio, everytime you mention BeRTO I LL MENTION 97G double the time you do. U been warned breh

the bodysnatcher i feel does not get enough props..but i do think it would be a great clash of styles but i think mike would beat terry..terry besides being chinny was way too reckless at times...and that is suicide against someone like mike mccallum..mike would stop him
