@patscorpio

i heard that emile griff vs parret death fight had something to do with it to.

Nah cuz there were still 15 rounders going on in the 60s...they just wanted boxing banned because paret was virtually killed on national tv..that does bring me into another thing though..they did say that paret prior to that fight had taken a couple of bad beatings back to back...straw that broke the camels back so to speak..i don't think CAT scans were of the norm back then lol

But they are now...I just don't think it's stringent enough on that end..there are plenty of boxers today that are not in the best neurological condition to be boxing right now...I'm sure of that but they slip through..there's too many of that going on to be worried that fighters are fighting too many rounds....i dont think, outside of eliminating same day weighins only, they REALLY addressed that...thats just my opinion

Mauricio Sulaiman explains second Deontay Wilder voluntary defense

WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman has informed WBN that Alexander Povetkin’s request to delay his world title challenge was the reason behind another voluntary being granted to current champion Deontay Wilder.

Wilder, 30, is set to put his heavyweight belt on the line next January 16 against an opponent to be named despite the fact that number one contender Povetkin was stipulated to be given his chance before the end of the same month.

Povetkin’s impressive final round win over Mariusz Wach last week means the Russian former WBA champion won’t be ready in time to take on Wilder and Sulaiman has now moved to outlined the situation as it currently stands.

“I think it’s important to note that Povetkin is the mandatory and was offered the fight immediately after Wilder’s voluntary against Johann Duhaupas in September,” Sulaiman exclusively told World Boxing News.

“By that time, Povetkin had already signed a title defense of his silver WBC championship on November 4 against Wach and advised us that he would be ready to contest for the title between April and May of 2016.

“That is the reason the WBC has approved this latest voluntary on January 16 for Wilder as it would not be fair to make the champion sit around waiting for the challenger,” he added.

Wilder has been linked to facing a host of names already, including Vyacheslav Glazkov and Lucas Browne, both of whom are ranked below Povetkin in the latest WBC Ratings.

An announcement is expected by the end of November as ‘The Bronze Bomber’ aims for a 36th straight win before taking on the former Olympic gold medallist.

Imagine the whole Marquez pac man saga with 15rders haha! I agree w pat though. Weight fukkery conditioning and overall fukkery would take a deep drop w 15 rders. I think 15 should be the standard for championship fights and top level fighters. But that 12 should still be an option like 10 8 6 4 are
