Dan Rafael chat wrap 11/6:
Bradley vs. Rios:
- Arum wants the winner of Bradley-Rios to face Canelo (if he beats Cotto). Arum and ODH have talked about it and ODH will be at the fight Saturday.
- Picking Bradley by decision.
- Tony Weeks will be refereeing the fight. Judges: Adalaide Byrd, Glenn Towbridge, and Glenn Feldman.
- Bradley vs. Rios will officially be a non-title fight and Bradley will not be stripped of his title for not fighting his mandatory.
- Would like to have seen Mayweather-Bradley. Would have picked Mayweather by dominating decision.
- If Teddy did his job as a trainer we get Bradley boxing Rios. Bradley should not be turning it into a war.
- To him Rios' speech sounds the same and he is not starting to slur.
The rest of boxing:
- Heard rumblings Danny Garcia may face Guerrero early next year.
- The guys participating in the 147 lb WBC tournament will be the top 4 rated guys who accept to be part of it.
- HBO Latino will show Rosado-Clottey.
- Showtime has not released which cards they will be showing 12/19, so no news if Chris Algieri's fight will be televised.
- Showtime owns the US rights to show Ruslan's fight, but has not scheduled an airing of the bout.
- There will be another fight added to the Canelo-Cotto broadcast, with Ward's fight off. Likely will be Caballer-Haskins. May be too late to get a new fight made to throw on there.
- Arum has said his first priority for Lomachenko is to make a fight vs. Rigo. Wants it early 2016. Don't expect Loma to move up right away to 130 to face Walters. Arum knows that Loma needs a good opponent and there is good selling points with a Rigo fight (his PFP status and the first time ever double 2 time gold medal winners would face each other).
- Boxing fans are filled with a lot of hate, it is ridiculous to criticize Andre Ward for pulling out with a knee injury. It was an easy tune-up for a lot of money, why would he fake it?
- Stiverne is not under consideration for Wilder's January fight.
- Greatest threat to beat Wlad? His health and age.
- Which was more surprising: Foreman KO over Moorer or Holyfield KO over Tyson? Holyfield-Tyson.
- Holyfield had more quality wins in his career than Tyson. Ranks him higher all time. Tyson really didn't have that many signature wins.
- Who does he rank higher: Holmes or Lennox Lewis? Holmes.
- Does not understand why Figueroa vs. DeMarco is the headlining PBC fight this weekend. DeMarco is absolutely done. They can make better fights.
- Tszyu vs. Cotto at 140? Cotto.
- Tony Harrison's chin should probably be questioned at this point when evaluating his prospects.
- Floyd is now the WBC's "Champion Emeritus". They did the same with Vitali Klitschko. This allows them to vacate the title and if Floyd decides to come back he immediately gets immediate obligation to fight for his old title.
- Does not think it is that long before Floyd starts feeling the itch to want to come back.
- Cotto vs. Canelo should do double what Floyd-Berto did (400K), but probably won't hit 1 million buys.
- Believes that the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight hurt the PPV industry for the short term. Believes it affected the GGG PPV and will affect Cotto-Canelo sales.
- Arum is pissed at the reporter who said that a Pacquiao-Khan deal had been made, because it is absolute lies.
- Better story teller: Arum or King? Arum.
- Ryota Murata is a future contender.
- The WBA is a joke (in response to Broner being named WBA Super Champion).
- If Broner-Theophane happens it is a joke.
- Doubts Cotto will retire if he loses to Canelo.
- Who does he want Pacquiao's next opponent to be? Crawford or Khan.
- Wants to see the Lee vs. Saunders winner unify with GGG.
- Whoever trains JCC doesn't really matter. Both Garcia and Roach are terrific trainers. The problems with JCC are his own, not his trainers.
