wards not exciting ... he's great.. but not exciting... hopkins is prob more exciting than ward...

bradley?.... if he is in their with an exciiting fighter like ruslan.. then yes.. but he is not excting.. great fighter yes..

broner.. come on ...

ggg selling out on both coast ... been there as mexicans cheering this dude in inglewood... mexicans love cheap excitement ... ggg is honarary mexican..

GGG is the definition of an exciting fighter... again.. no disco dancing .. no mauling...no running..

put it this way.. if you've ever been to fight live... its very easy to pick the fighter you'd get your moneys worth... if you had to drop a couple hundred bucks on seats... ggg would guarantee you your moneys worth...

This is not true at all.

Exciting to YOU doesn't mean it's exciting to me or anyone else breh.

Andre Ward is INFINITELY more exciting for me to watch than a GGG. Same for Floyd, Loma, Rigo, and anyone else that shows elite offensive SKILL mixed with elite defensive skill. I enjoy much more watching someone outskill you than play "Rock Em, Sock Em" robots in the middle of the ring. Im not excited by someone fighting like GGG/Provodnikov/Matthysse/etc.

Im not gonna mention AB in this, except to say I got my money's worth on Saturday in an exciting fight with AB showing offense AND defense (Boxer-Puncher:mjpls:)....can Matthysse stans who went to his fight on Saturday say the same?:sas1:

Why not? Because he didn't show any defense and was frustrated by a *gasp*.......Boxer who outskilled him:sas2:

Matthysse To Critics: Put on Gloves, Get To Where I Am!

Posted by: Elisinio Castillo on 10/6/2015 .

By Elisinio Castillo

Lucas Matthysse (37-4, 34KOs) has returned back home to Argentina after his knockout loss to the Ukrainian Viktor Postol on Saturday night at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Matthysse lost out in his second attempt to capture the WBC junior welterweight championship.

During the tenth round, Matthysse caught a punch to his left eye and went down. He stayed down on a knee as the referee counted him out.

After the fight was over, Matthysse told media members that he was temporarily blinded and thought his eye had suffered serious damage. His vision returned a moment after being counted out.

He took plenty of shots from critics, who felt he was fading at the time of the knockout and many called him "a quitter" for staying down for the full count. Some critics are even questioning the injury to his eye. Matthysse blamed an eye injury for his decision loss to Danny Garcia in 2013.

Matthysse had some choice words for those critics.

"We did things well, we had good preparation on Saturday but we did not come out ahead. I have my career ahead of me. I lost the chance to win the world title. Now we have to relax and wait for what fights will be offered to me," Matthysse said.

"I could not see after the punch to the eye. I would have kept going if I had recovered my sight. It was not my night, you are not always going to win. Now everyone is opening their mouths and talking. They aren't fighters. Those who are criticizing me, let them try putting on the gloves and get to where I am."

"He found me with that shot to the eye and he won. That punch in the tenth round, he caught me in the eye and that was the key. I thought that something had happened to the eye and that was that my concern, but fortunately right now everything looks good. I thought something worse had happened to me. I thank all of Argentina that was expected me to arrive with the belt, but I failed. I want to send greetings to Junin and Trelew."

does crawford gets ggg push?

Crawford is more exciting to watch than GGG too, but that's just my opinion of course, because I prefer the Boxer-Puncher over everything.:yeshrug:

Anyways, to answer your question, yes he was getting it from HBO....but then Bob Arum dropped the ball:snoop:

Like I said in another thread, Crawford was on fire and all of a sudden, the brakes just got pushed on him:wow:

He should've fought at least 3 times this year and been able to capitalize on his surging buzz within the Boxing world.

HBO, Showtime 10/3 Telecasts Produce Meager Ratings

Posted by: Jake Donovan on 10/6/2015 .

By Jake Donovan

It was another night of a divided audience between American cable giants HBO and Showtime, with the networks offering dueling boxing telecasts on October 3.

The ratings once again suggest that going head-to-head is never good for business.

HBO claimed a ratings victory over Showtime, but neither network has much to brag about given the viewership tallies provided by Nielsen Media Research.

On the HBO side, Viktor Postol turned in one of the year's most shocking results - not so much his win over Lucas Matthysse, but the manner in which it ended. The rangy boxer from Ukraine - trained by Hall of Fame coach Freddie Roach - stopped Matthysse in the 10th round of their HBO headliner from Carson, California, which drew an average audience of 698,000 viewers.

In the chief support, Antonio Orozco preserved his unbeaten record with a 10-round win over former three-division titlist Humberto Soto.

Along with the undesirable in-ring result - which was preceded by a tease of Matthysse facing Manny Pacquiao early next year had he won - the rating was also a massive drop from the 1.243 million viewers who tuned in for Matthysse's 12-round win over Ruslan Provodnikov in April. Still, it was the second time this year that the Argentine slugger appeared on an HBO show that performed considerably better than its premium cable counterpart.

Matthysse's aforementioned win over Provodnikov outperformed that of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr's knockout loss to Andrzej Fonfara in April. This time around, his fight - albeit in a losing performance - outdrew another major TV star, as Adrien Broner returned to Showtime for the first time in 13 months.

The brash former three-division champ added a fourth belt in as many weight classes in a 12th round knockout win over Khabib Allakhverdiev at home in Cincinnati, Ohio. In the evening's co-feature, Jose Pedraza barely edged Edner Cherry to retain his super featherweight title.

The Showtime doubleheader drew an average of just over 500,000 viewers, a massive drop from Broner's previous appearance on the network and at home, when his decision win over Emmanuel Taylor generated an average of 852,000 viewers.

It's also a steep decline from his two appearances on free-to-air NBC in primetime this year, with both telecasts serving as the two highest rated televised boxing cards of 2015.

Ratings website ShowBuzzDaily.com was the first to report the ratings.

Plus UFC PPV was on that night as well. I didn't know that AB was on both the #1 (co-main) & #2 (main) highest rated cards this year though:ehh:. I knew about #1, but not the #2:obama:

I see people keep bringing up pics of fighters with swollen eyes.. the reason he quit was cuz he heard a pop, he thought something went wrong in there and said he lost sight out of it... just cuz it ain't swollen don't mean there isn't a serious problem.... how many times have fighters died from getting too many blows to the head but there face isn't as bad as people who servive wars... Oscar quit against manny cuz he got a headache and was worried something serious was going on.... I just think it's foolish to compare a swollen eye to what Lucas said what happened in the fight.

So you're condoning his quitting:usure:? If that's the case, we can make passes for every single fighter who's ever quit as well. nikkas sure did have a fun time laughing at JCC Jr for quitting and Victor Ortiz for quitting because of a broken jaw. Chad Dawson vs SOG? Geale vs Cotto?

Wasn't people just saying Luis Collazo was a quitter, because he quit due to his eye against Thurman? But now though, since Matthysse did the exact same thing, it's excusable:mjpls:

Views From The X
Had the day off today, not much to do this morning. So I decided to rewatch this controversial fight, and score it myself

Round 1: 10-9 Whitaker
Round 2: 10-9 DLH
Round 3: 10-8 DLH (Whitaker got a point taken away due to that stupid WBC rule for the accidental headbutt)
Round 4: 10-9 Whitaker
Round 5: 10-9 Whitaker
Round 6: 10-9 Whitaker
Round 7: 10-9 DLH
Round 8: 10-9 DLH
Round 9: 10-8 Whitaker
Round 10: 10-9 Whitaker
Round 11: 10-9 Whitaker
Round 12: 10-9 DLH

Final score: 114-112 Whitaker

Was a close fight, but Sweat Pea edged it, winning most of the rounds IMO. DLH had his moments and hit Pernell with some good hard shots, but had too but ineffective aggression. Throwing 10 punches at once, while only landing 2 or 3. And of course Lampley there sucking him off :snoop: Thank God Merchant and Jones where there to keep him in check for the most part. Pernell's jab wasn't as effective as it usually was. Sweat Pea always had an A1 jab, put this time it seem off, and his punches were wider than usual. Of course this is an older Pernell Whitaker. I think prime Sweat Pea would've had an easier time with DLH (at least this version of Oscar anyways).

I think we should make threads revisiting controversial fights and explain who we think won, posting our own scorecards. I always like to see how other folks judge fights

rubio has 51 ko's by himself :heh: that doesn't move me..in that case GGG putting him away in 2 would be more impressive since rubio is more of a puncher than those 2..right...still doesn't think his competition is anything to write about this year.
