Ukraine's Viktor Postol (28-0, 12KOs) made a big statement on Saturday night, when he knocked out heavily favored Lucas Matthysse in ten rounds to capture the vacant WBC junior welterweight championship at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.
After the fight, Postol called for a unification with WBO champion Terence Crawford (26-0, 18KOs).
Both Postol and Crawford are handled by Top Rank.
Crawford returns on October 24th when he defends his belt against Dierry Jean of Canada in an HBO televised fight.
Postol revealed to BoxingScene.com that he was offered the opportunity to fight Crawford on that October date - and he accepted the fight - but then Postol was informed that Crawford changed his mind and selected Jean instead.
The victory by Postol sets up a big unification with Crawford in 2016, as long as Terence wins his upcoming defense.
"Before this fight, nobody knows this, but I had an offer to fight Terence Crawford for his WBO title. I had a choice, to fight Matthysse as a mandatory or to fight Crawford as an optional for the WBO title. And we said yes. We said yes to the fight, but they changed their minds and Crawford didn't want to fight me. I don't know why, but I'm open to fight him right now," Postol told BoxingScene.com.

Crawford beats Postol. He's bigger, taller, and a much better boxer than Matthysse with some snap on his punches to boot. Plus Crawford has good defense. Postol is not a bum though
Crawford takes on Postol and beat him for his Championship, and AB needs to fight Cuenca and beat him for his Championship as well.
Then we meet on PPV in a IBF/WBA/WBC/WBO Junior Welterweight Championship fight

Imam can wait to fight his mandatory against Postol. However, Crawford brings more to the table (resume/money) than Imam does, so I see Crawford vs Postol happening with Crawford getting the WBC belt around his waist.
AB/Imam? Imam gotta beat someone with a pulse first, because we beat him now while he's still green....then what? More hate comes along because we "cherry picked to beat a young fighter who hasn't fought anybody"
AB/Cuenca needs to happen, because that's the only way for us to win another Championship at 140 (WBC/WBO is with TR).
