Most likely, the simplest and obvious solution to this issue is that Haymon just has to feature better quality fights on a more consistent basis. Wilder is not yet a mainstream attraction and he was going up against a guy who hardly anyone has even heard of, and one who definitely didn't deserve a title shot. Haymon certainly has enough top flight fighters in his stable to start mixing them in together to make a lot of fan-friendly fights,

They should have had Wilder fight Arreola. At least it would have been a name opponent that we could have gave rat's ass about. Only thing is the chances of Wilder getting soul clapped go up tremendously. Even a guy like Spika (the Polish cat) would have been decent.


Instead we get to hear Deontay tell fans that the most dangerous opponents are the ones nobody has seen before. Yeah that logic might apply to opponents from out of space or from alternate dimensions, but 9 outta10 times on Earth, if nobody heard of you before it's prolly because you suck.

The whole "Let's flood tv with free boxing" novelty has already worn off on casual fans. nikkas wanna see the top dogs matched up in good fights now.

I was still entertained by the card, but it could have been better.
