Top Rank CEO Bob Arum explained that he won't consider Danny Garcia as a possible option for Manny Pacquiao's next return - because he says the Philadelphia fighter would be battered in a one-sided bout by the former eight division world champion.
Pacquiao's trainer, Freddie Roach, would love to get Garcia in the ring for his fighter. Arum won't even list him as an option.
At the moment, Pacquiao's options are Amir Khan, Lucas Matthysse, Kell Brook and Terence Crawford. Pacquiao is coming back in late February or early April.
Arum feels Garcia (31-0, 18KOs) was very fortunate to win several decisions, including the bout with Maurcio Herrera last year in Puerto Rico, and has no business being in a headliner against Pacquiao right now.
Garcia moved up to welterweight last month and stopped Paulie Malignaggi.
"I don't think Danny Garcia is truly a competitive fight with Manny. Garcia had a couple of gift decisions that he didn't deserve, like Herrera and the other fight [with Lamont Peterson]. And I'm not really interested in Garcia," Arum told Fight Hub.

Now, as much as it would be funny to troll about this, Arum is wrong
Danny Garcia isn't an option because he "had a couple of gift decisions that he didn't deserve" and he brings up Herrera & Peterson. Ok. But the options you WILL consider for Pacquiao include 2 guys Garcia beat clearly (Khan & Matthysse) and also have multiple other losses, besides to Garcia, on their records. One guy who hasn't fought anyone besides Shawn Porter and won a close decision over...not a dominant performance. And then we have a 4th guy who hasn't faced an elite fighter above 135 yet.
If Arum is doesn't want to put Pacquiao in the ring with Swift...he needs better excuses. Those excuses were weak as hell
