This is how the Keith Thurman/Virgil Hunter beef started:

Virgil Hunter Questions Keith Thurman’s Chin

At the post-fight press conference for Amir Khan‘s 12-round unanimous decision win over Chris Algieri, Virgil Hunter had some choice words to say about Keith Thurman.

“Styles make matches, you know, I know Keith is a very vocal young man and is confident of his abilities. But, if I have to be honest, Keith has stepped up a little bit himself and you don’t see the knockouts as you used to see,” said Hunter.

Thurman, 26, has not scored a knockout since 2014. However, Thurman has been out with a shoulder injury for much of the time since then.

Also, Thurman’s last two fights were against iron-chinned opponents who had never been stopped. However, according to Thurman, that’s just what happens when you step up in competition.

“When you start going up in the A-leagues, they don’t come as easily,” continued Hunter.

Then, after mentioning “the media’s” characterization of Khan as a fighter with a bad chin, Hunter gave a cryptic warning about Thurman’s chin.

“There are things I know about Keith Thurman that I won’t say, but you better watch his chin too,” said Hunter. “I know him way back from the amateurs and I could tell you some things that would shock you.”

What Hunter has seen, we may only guess, but he nevertheless believes that the fight will materialize sometime in the future.

It is only fair, according to Hunter, that fighters be able to carve out their own paths before taking on big fights, such as a potential Thurman-Khan fight.

Thurman: I'll Knock Amir Khan and Virgil Hunter Out!

According to WBA 'regular' welterweight champion Keith Thurman (25-0, 21KOs), there is no way that Amir Khan deserves the right to face Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the fall.

Khan is pushing hard to get Mayweather on September 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Thurman, and IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook, are also attempting to get Mayweather on the date. Thurman has no problem with Brook getting the call, but he doesn't like the idea of Khan gaining that opportunity.

He says Khan has not done enough as a welterweight to earn that type of opportunity.

Thurman also hit back at Khan's trainer, Virgil Hunter, who recently questioned the chin resistance of the dangerous puncher.

"I think [Khan] is better offer trying to get a Danny Garcia rematch or something like that. He didn't talk about me after the [Chris Algieri] fight on television. He talked about Floyd," Thurman said.

"But then when one of you guys came and asked him some more questions, then he decided to say my name out of his mouth - and then for some reason his coach wanted to talk junk too. I don't know what that's about because Virgil can't throw punches for Amir, he can' take punches for Amir - and if I have to I'll knock both of them out."

"He does not deserve his ranking in the welterweight division. What top welterweight has Amir Khan beat?"

Thurman is back on August 1st in Florida, when he takes on Luis Collazo - who Khan dominated last May in Las Vegas

Prov is all types of wrong for sometimes. Thurman doesn't hit hard enough to get prov to stop coming forward.

One time mangles his face, he keeps coming forward but any decent footwork will keep him off. If uncaged mma Algieri worked him I see no problems for Thurman here.

The best thing that happened to this dude's career was Bradley fighting him like a dumb ass. :martin:
