Premier Boxing Champions (PBC): Is Al Haymon launching a Super Six Tournament?

Since the inception of the Premier Boxing Champions back in March, the organization has had some solid main events in the welterweight division such as Adrien Broner vs. Shawn Porter and Danny Garcia vs. Lamont Peterson.
However, they’ve also had their share of main events that were not in high demand such as Danny Garcia vs. Paulie Malignaggi, and Robert Guerrero vs. Aaron Martinez.

Due to the subpar matchups, Al Haymon has been scrutinized for not making the best fights that could be made.

Perhaps scheduling conflicts is to blame? Or Haymon's having trouble pleasing all of his fighters?

... Or maybe he was waiting for the opportune time to put together the best fights?

With Floyd Mayweather set to fight for the 49th and final time on September 12th against Andre Berto, boxing will be in need of the next king of the welterweight division.

Therein lies the perfect opportunity for Haymon to make the best possible fights in a welterweight tournament.

Concept: Take the six best welterweights and have them compete in a tournament similar to the Showtime Super Middleweight Super Six Tournament that was launched several years ago.

The fighters the PBC tournament would consist of undefeated and IBF champion Kell Brook, Keith Thurman, Shawn Porter, Amir Khan, Danny Garcia, and Marcos Maidana if he’s still able to make the 147 pound limit.

Here’s a look at the possible first round matchups for the Super Six.

Kell Brook vs. Amir Khan - For the past several years these two have engaged in verbal battles and Khan has stated that Brook was not worthy of a fight with him will Kell accussed Khan of ducking.

If Mayweather stays true to his word and retires, Brook vs. Khan is the biggest financial fight that can be made in the welterweight division. They could have the fight in Wembley stadium and we'd find out once and for all who is the best welterweight from the United Kingdom.

Danny Garcia vs. Shawn Porter - When Garcia fought Malignaggi at the Barclays Center on August 1st, Shawn Porter and his dad, Kenny, were in attendance. The elder Porter made it clear that they were there because they had their eyes on Garcia. This would be an intriguing fight between two fighters and the back and forth chatter between the fighters dads would certainly provide entertainment.

Keith Thurman vs. Marcos Maidana - This fight would pit the two hardest punchers in the division against one another. It would be the all-action slugfest that fans have been wanting to see for quite some time. This would be a candidate for Fight of the Year and may come down to who take the better punch.

So if Haymon’s plan was to put together the best fights at the most opportunistic time it was a sound strategy that will pay hugs dividends.

With a Super Six tournament featuring some of the most talented fighters in the sports, PBC would be the center of the boxing world in 2016.

i just watched mosely margerito for the first time :dahell:

what a masterclass. beat the fukk out of him held him and walked him backwards margerito could never get any momentum going at all. thats how you fight a pressure fighter. you cant run from them cus they build momentum and get stronger as the fight goes on. if you push them backwards after every combo you hit them with they have to reset constantly.

It be nice to give Chino a "tune up" let him get on the winning track...test his draw on PBC...not worry bout his weight as much

But if he wants to go straight to the Champ of the world....let him learn :demonic:
