Earlier this year Peter Quillin
@KidChocolate (31-0, 22KO's) was the WBO middleweight champion and was consired by most as one of the top 3 guys at 160 lbs.
.
In 2014, Quillin looked bad against Gabriel Rosado and then went the distance with Lucas Konecny... who?: Exactly.
.
Then, for his next match, the WBO demanded that Quillin face his mandatory challenger Matt Korobov (24-0, 14KOs). Quillin was offered $1.4 million for the fight, which would have been his highest fight purse ever.
.
However, under the advise of AL Haymon, Quillin decided to vacate his WBO title rather than defend it against Korobov.
.
To see a young, undefeated, world champion vacate his title to avoid fighting his mandatory challenger says a lot about his character. I don't think Quillin will ever be looked at the same by the hardcore boxing community.
