At the peaks of their talent, RJJ was better than Hopkins ever was. Hopkins has the better resume and finishes higher on the all-time list.

A posted a poll of boxing writers and historians a few months back on this board that showed most still rate Roy WELL AHEAD of B-Hop to this day. Roy has better overall career achievements and has beaten better fighters overall. B-Hop still has alot of catching up to do.

Stiverne-Wilder Avoids Purse Bid, Agreement Reached
By Salvador Rodriguez
According to World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman, the ordered fight between WBC heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne and mandatory challenger Deontay Wilder will avoid a scheduled purse bid on October 1st - because Sulaiman was informed that Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy Promotions [for Wilder] and Don King [for Stiverne] have reached an agreement to stage the fight in December. The bout will take place on December 13th or December 20th on American soil
"We have been informed that both Oscar de la Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions and Don King of Don King Productions have already agreed to fight in mid-December, and therefore the purse bid scheduled for next week will be avoided," explained Sulaiman.
^^So after he whips Alvarez's ass, we'll get Canelo-Chavez........... Then after he whips Omar's ass we'll get Canelo-Chavez..............
...... Nah, we'll never get that, who am I kidding
If has to play the purse bid boogeyman to get these fights signed and ready to go in a hasty manner, then GOODI guess somebody didn't want to bid
In the main event in Mesquite, Texas with Iron Mike in attendance, Juan Carlos Payano (16-0, 8KO) survived a nasty cut over his right eye to take the WBA Super Bantamweight Title from the champion Anselmo “Chemito” Moreno (35-3-1, 12KO) after 6 rounds due to the cut. The cut occurred early in the fight from an accidental headbutt and had to be checked by the doctors in the 2nd round.
Payano came out like a bull from the opening bell and took the fight to Moreno in a very scrappy fight that saw Payano get warned multiple times from the referee for fouls. After the 6th round, the doctors decided the cut got worse and the fight was stopped. At the time of the stoppage, the scores read 59-55 and 58-56 for a unanimous decision for the new champion Payano.

I didn't mention it here, mostly because it has never come up in conversation, but I pegged this as an upset. However, since I didn't say anything about it before the fact I can't take any credit
