Paulie fought like he always fights. The difference was Porter and his in an out pressure that allowed him to constantly land flush hard ass shots. Most people will catch Paulie constantly, but never with their best punches over and over. Porter's best punch is his left hook. Dude always got that punch off with good leverage on Paulie like back to back in almost every exchange. Plus he was nailing dude with a consistent snapping jab that kept Paulie in position to catch more shots. Paulie did try to jab and box, but Porter was always able to find him and catch him and every time. When Paulie tried to go after him, dude would surprise him and brawl and catch him with a big shot.
In essence Porter pretty much did what Hatton did, but Hatton did it to a closer to prime Malignaggi. Porter is also physically stronger than Hatton and hits harder at 147 than Hatton did at 140 when he fought dude. Porter had a lot of things in his favor, but nobody thought he'd look this good.
Paulie landed a few decent shots, but that's never been his real problem. Dude is too damn hittable. Porter wasn't allowing Paulie to circle off the jab. He'd be there right on him working the body and landing those hooks. Guys like Cano and Broner allowed Paulie to move and jab, so he'd never get caught with back to back big shots. He'd catch a hard one and circle off. Porter wasn't having that shyt.
Real good performance by Porter.
And some nikkas thought Paulie could beat Manny or Maidana.
