Promoter Artie Pelullo has confirmed an earlier report by RingTV.com that WBO 140-pound titleholder Ruslan Provodnikov's first defense, against Chris Algieri on June 14, has been moved from the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, N.Y., to Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

On the undercard, British junior middleweight contender Brian Rose (25-1-1, 7 knockouts) will challenge WBO titleholder Demetrius Andrade (20-0, 13 KOs).

A press conference is scheduled for Wednesday at Barclay Center.

Earlier, Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer informed RingTV.com that he gave the okay to Barclays Center CEO Brett Yormark for the bout to take place at the home of the Brooklyn Nets, since Golden Boy has an exclusive promotional deal with the venue.

"I was asked by the Barclays Center people if I would be okay if they were to do the Provodnikov fight frrm Barclays Center and I said, 'Absolutely, I have no problem with it,'" said Schaefer, whose organization has held seven fights at Barclays Center over the past 18 months.

"We have a deal with Barclays Center, but I have no problem with [Provodnikov's promoter] Artie Pelullo going there with the Provodnikov fight. I know that HBO has been at Barclays Center before for a show that we did with them, and Barclays Center is one of the best venues in the world, and I think that it provides a terrific experience for people who can watch boxing from Barclays Center, so I have no problem with it."

In his past two fights, Provodnikov (23-2, 16 knockouts) scored a 12th-round knockdown during a unanimous-decision loss to WBO welterweight titleholder Tim Bradley in RingTV.com's 2013 Fight of the Year, followed by a 10th-round stoppage over Mike Alvarado for his current belt. Algieri (19-0, 8 KOs) was last in the ring for a unanimous decision over Emmanuel Taylor in February.

:snoop: @ the lack of interest I have in this event. I feel like I'm slowing converting from a hardcore fan to a casual fan. I didn't even watch any of the 24-7's.

breh this is a fight no hardcore fan wanted to see but here we are :manny:
I actually think its the opposite...CASUAL fans don't really want to watch it while the hardcore crowd wants to see if they get it right this time.

I got Manny winning on points today...dropping Bradley once or twice. If Bradley wins it will only be by a KO
