Former four division world champion Jorge "Travieso" Arce was brought to tears when he traveled to Colombia to visit José Carmona, who is still in rehab after undergoing two operations for a brain clot which developed after taking a lot of punishment in his eight round knockout loss at the hands of Arce last November in Mexico. Following the match, Carmona was not responding well and he was placed on a stretcher and taken to a local hospital, where the blood clot was discovered and he underwent two surgeries.
During the visit, Arce gave Carmona a donation of $10,000 to help him take card of his family.

Herrera: I'll Haunt Danny Garcia, Follow Him To 147

Maurico Herrera gave a great account of himself last Saturday night when he gave unified Junior Welterweight champion Danny Garcia a much tougher than expected fight. While Herrera was not awarded a victory, there were plenty of people who felt he maybe should’ve got the nod in the contest.
When Herrera spoke to BoxingScene earlier this week, he confirmed getting a rematch with Garcia will be his first priority as he would like to prove he was the real winner.
“I’m going to try to push [for a rematch] as much as I can. I don’t know what [Danny and his team] are thinking right now. I’m thinking [immediately after] they were probably thinking of not doing it. I think if people keep talking and blowing it up and keep mentioning me in his face I would think they would have to think about it. Maybe I have a good chance of landing that rematch” Herrera would tell BoxingScene.
Garcia was coming off one of the biggest victories of his career when he defeated hard hitting Lucas Matthysse last September. He was the underdog against Matthysse but a heavy favorite over Herrera who ended up being a more difficult challenge in the ring. Garcia admitted he didn’t look his best versus Herrera and hinted that a move to 147 would likely be next for him.
Herrera is a career Junior Welterweight but considering Garcia’s potential move up and the fact that the 147 pound division is full of top names, a move up for him might also make sense. Mauricio is open to the idea of entering a new division especially if he can face Garcia again but also feels he could remain at 140 and fight for Garcia’s vacant titles.
“I haven’t thought about moving up but who knows. I may move up to fight Danny. I think he’ll move up to avoid me. He said he was going to stay at 140 for a little while longer and that he was 100% and that he was ready and the week of the fight he was already on weight. This was before the fight and now after the fight you hear all these excuses that the weight was a problem and now he’s going to 147” said Herrera.
“If Danny doesn’t want a rematch I can stay at 140 and fight for his belts if he leaves them behind against somebody else like maybe a Lucas Matthysse or another big fight. And eventually go back and haunt him and follow him to 147 afterwards”.
Whether Herrera gets a Garcia rematch remains to be seen but he feels even in defeat, his performance has garnered him attention and respect from the boxing community. Herrera would certainly make a solid opponent for anyone at 140 or 147 given his awkward style and granite chin.
If he does get a rematch however, El Maestro feels he would get the best of Garcia again.
“I know Danny is not comfortable. I know he’s not sleeping well. I know he has to be reading what people are writing [and saying]. So I hope they give me a rematch. I think styles make fights. I think I exposed him. I’m not saying anybody else is going to be able to do the same because everybody fights different but I think I did some things in there that other fighters will try to steal from. I feel if I fought Danny again the same thing would happen. I think it would be the same result”.

Who will Garcia fight then if he stays at 140 and doesnt fight Peterson or Broner next? He already beat Judah and I dont think they're keen on giving Matthysse OR Herrera a rematch
#swiftset? What's next for your boy?
@ChocolateGiddyUp, @King P, @Skip b, @yawn
he should go after a rematch...he gave morales one of the most unwarranted rematches in recent years..this fight warrants a sequel
