Is it me, or has there been no promotion for Mayweather vs Canelo since the press tours? I made mention during the Mayweather vs Guerrero build up that HBO seems to do a much better job promoting their PPVs (be it Showtime obviously doesn't have HBO's production staff and or experience with PPV). Mayweather vs Cotto 2 months out was already getting major buzz. Here we got potentially Floyd's biggest fight in years and I have yet to see any commercials, On Demand features, All Access previews, etc. Maybe I'm missing it, but this seems very similar to the Mayweather vs Guerrero build up where they packed 2 weeks of promotion leading up to the fight.

Those specifics aren't turning casual fans away let alone the majority of them didn't see Canelo vs Trout (and quite possibly Mayweather vs Guerrero either). I think it comes down to the overall promotion from Showtime in comparison to HBO. The way HBO made you believe Ricky Hatton was gonna beat Floyd was Emmy worthy (and casuals didn't know Hatton from a drunk in a Pub). Then the Rocky music for Shane during 24/7 when you knew this nikka was gonna get embarrassed .

There's is more negatives regarding this fight then positives, people is already looking to Floyd next opponenet, they dont see Canelo a big bad boogeyman, even Matthysse is getting some of that love, but not the undefeated Canelo; he aint earn shyt and skipped the line thats why, the fight will flop also. The fight is sold, that's why. No need to really promote until All Access starts then you will see promo again for the PPV. Additionally, I see Oscar as cashing out on Canelo since due to his stocky build, he should be up a class higher and pretty soon, 154 will require cutting too much so let's get this money right now with this fight. Canelo will always have a popular following but this is the biggest fight to make so they made it.
