I do think Virgil Hunter is a little overrated, but he's not garbage. Sometimes as a trainer you're only as good as the fighters your given and then shyt just happens. His fighter should have won against that white south african dude the other day, but he got robbed with that draw verdict and nobody seriously thought Mike Dallas Jr was going to beat Lucas the machine.

I don't think he can improve anything with Khan since the jury's out on him and anybody with a decent punch and/or share a similar size is going to go for broke on his chin.

Berto been with Hunter for a minute, but at first they were trying to keep it secret and Berto has yet to fight with him in the corner so I'll be interested in seeing how that experiment goes. He should be able to beat a guy like Soto Karass, but sometimes guys have a hard time finding their groove during the first fight with a new trainer so I do expect him to struggle in certain moments, but I'd be extremely surprised if he loses. Berto's biggest flaws were that he didn't have any type of ring identity and that his grip on the core basics of boxing is loosely put together. I don't expect all of that shyt to get corrected by Saturday night.

Matthysse wants Maidana to take Broner's head off

THE RING No. 1-rated junior welterweight Lucas Matthysse is hopeful that his hard-hiitting Argentine countryman, Marcos Maidana, gets a shot at unbeaten WBA 147-pound beltholder Adrien Broner in order to " take his head off" because Broner "talks too much."

Maidana (33-3, 30 knockouts) scored his third straight stoppage victory with a sixth-round knockout against Josesito Lopez last month, having last suffered defeat in his 147-pound debut in February of last year to current IBF beltholder Devon Alexander.

Since falling to Alexander, Maidana has been trained by Robert Garcia, who has guided the careers of Nonito Donaire, Mikey Garcia, and Brandon Rios, among others.

Maidana is the mandatory challenger to Broner (27-0, 22 KOs), who is coming off last month's unanimous decision that dethroned Paulie Malignaggi for his current title. Broner had stopped his previous six opponents before facing Malignaggi.

Maidana's manager, Sebastian Contursi, told RingTV.com that he was ringside for Broner-Malignaggi at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., and said he made it clear to Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer and to Broner's advisor, Al Haymon, that Maidana wants Broner next. Schaefer told RingTV.com that he also wants to make the fight happen.

"I hope, I really hope that the fight is made with Adrien Broner, and that Maidana takes his head off, because this kid, Broner, talks too much. So, like a fellow countryman, I wish the best for Marcos Maidana," said Matthysse, who is 34-2, with 32 knockouts.

"I can't help but observe the success that Maidana is having at 147 pounds, and, eventually, one day, I'm going to be in that division. If I'm one day at 147, and he is there, well, this is a sport, and this is a business, so we might fight one day. But for now, the only thing that I can say right now is that I wish the best for my my countryman, Marcos Maidana."

In May, Matthysse obliterated IBF 140-pound beltholder Lamont Peterson, dropping him three times on the way to a third-round knockout.

Matthysse is in Argentina preparing for a Sept. 14 Showtime Pay Per View-televised battle with RING champion Danny Garcia (26-0, 16 KOs), who will put his WBA and WBC belts on the line against Matthysse on the undercard of the blockbuster main event featuring Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Canelo Alvarez at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

I dunno. I like Garcia but Matthysse's punches got that pop. As for Broner, if he wants to get with Maidana, dropping back down to 140 is his move. He didn't take any power with him when he moved up to fight Malignaggi.

which is true but maidana can be outboxed which broner is competent with..i would take broner winning a decision over maidana
