yall hate on mathysse because of the way he looks

I dont hate him he a good little fighter, I question how good he is with his loses to a shot Zab and a bytch ass vanilla Devon Alexander coming off a lose, a lose where he had his will broke by the pillow fisted Timmy and quit, but Matthysse is this big bad puncher and he couldnt do the same...........................:snoop:

There's levels to this shyt and he's a few levels below Garica, can you imagine a LM out boxing a above average counter puncher in Zab over the course of 12 rounds like Garcia did, his win wasnt no win 3 clear rounds get a knockdown then hope for the stars, Garcia had Zab on jelly legs damn near every round and even the rounds after he was hurt by the dirty shot/butts he returned his, levels breh..............................

LM created this problem by not refusing to fight Peterson without the straps on the line, look below what Sheaf stated before hand:

Schaefer agreed that Matthysse's desire to hang on to his interim title to somehow force a Garcia fight, win or lose, was flawed.

"Just because I promote both fighters [Garcia and Matthysse] doesn't mean they will fight the other guy, and I explained to Team Matthysse that whether you're the mandatory or not mandatory doesn't mean you will get the fight," he said. "You can't force a fight. Garcia might say, 'I'm going to fight somebody else.' So Matthysse having the interim title doesn't necessarily mean he will get Garcia. There's a better chance of him getting it by beating Peterson, with or without the [interim] title. I finally told my matchmakers to just get the fight done."

But yall do this duck this duck that shyt, GB was never sold on that match, especially giving it to us free, there is a reason Scheaf always stated Madiana for LM, Garcia is levels above LM and has one in a lifetime payday's with FMJ and Broner(before he takes that L which will happen soon)........... if LM was to get the fight he should be on his hands and knees for days thanking Oscar

Man, I am tired of everyone throwing around the words "cleaned out their division". There are too many great fighters in the 140 division right now, and the top 2 are Garcia and Matthysse. Until these two get in the ring and settle things, nothing is 'cleaned out' there.

Also, there are great fighters like Judah, Rios, Alvarado, and (lesser extent) Alexander, and Peterson. This is the best division in boxing right now.

Basically, I am tired in general of cats coming up with excuses. This goes for all top fighters- Mayweather, Pacquiao, Lucas, D. Garcia, etc. These cats need (or needed) to take these tests, sign these contracts, and get in the ring to give us true fight fans what we want to see.

Jhonatan Romero-Kiko Martinez Set For HBO Triple, 8/17 - Boxing News
By Jake Donovan

Jhonatan Romero was hoping for a notable name in the opposite corner for his first defense of the 122 lb. title. The unbeaten champ gets his wish, as he will face Spain's Kiko Martinez on August 17 in Atlantic City.

The bout will serve as part of a televised tripleheader on HBO, with middleweight titlist Daniel Geale defending against British contender Darren Barker in the evening's main event.

Romero makes his first ring appearance since winning the vacant belt earlier this year in a well deserved split decision over Alejandro Lopez.

Talks were in place for his first defense to come against former bantamweight titlist Joseph Agbeko, who made a triumphant ring return earlier this year following a forced 15-month break. The two camps were close to finalizing but negotiations ultimately hit a wall.

In came Martinez (28-4, 20 KO), a perennial bridesmaid at the top level of the 122 lb. division. The Spaniard is best known for his shocking 1st round knockout of Bernard Dunne back in 2007, as well as his all-action style. He is coming off of a knockout win over David Marchiano, which in turn came on the heels of a heartbreaking 9th round knockout loss to unbeaten contender Carl Frampton late last year.

The upcoming title defense marks Romero's debut on cable giant HBO.
A Bantamweight? Kiko Martinez?

No offense, but there's other guys like Mijares, Mathebula, Montiel, Hugo Ruiz, WV2, Ishimoto (guy who upset WV2) and others who are much better fights.

Sounds like they're trying to legitimize a "showcase" fight...

IBF orders Froch to face Groves | BoxRecNews

The chances of IBF super middleweight champion Carl 'The Cobra' Froch taking on Hammersmith's George Groves in his next fight increased dramatically after the IBF ordered the pair to reach agreement by July 12, for the contest to take place before the middle of October.

This will come as welcome news to promoters Matchroom, who represent both fighters and have been keen on Groves being Froch's next assignment after the Nottingham champion successfully defended his title against Mikkel Kessler at the O2 in May.

IBF chairman Lindsey Tucker was quoted as saying in The Sun:

"Adonis Stevenson was the mandatory but got tired of waiting for the opportunity to fight Froch and moved up to light-heavyweight to box for the WBC title.

"Under the rules, when that happens we go down the list to see who is next. We got down as far as Groves, and he has been made our mandatory challenger for Froch."

(For info: In the latest IBF super middleweight ratings published on June 10, positions one and two are conveniently 'Not Rated'. Third place is occupied by Dominican Edwin Rodriguez, with Lucian Bute, who Froch demolished in May last year to first win the belt, placed fourth. South African Thomas Oosthuizen, who recorded a split decision bore draw with Brandon Gonzales on the weekend, is placed fifth, with Groves at number six.)

Tucker continued: "We have sent letters to both fighters, dated June 10, and asked them to start negotiations for a mandatory defence. The boxers will have until July 12 to come to an agreement. If they can’t, we will then call for a purse bid."

Presumably, Matchroom won't want it to go that far, as purse bids could lead to all sorts of promotional shenanigans. Of course, Froch could decide to vacate the IBF title should a more lucrative opportunity arise, but in reality, there isn't one. Expect an agreement to be reached between the pair soon for a PPV clash in October.

I agree with you but on the other hand HBO is trying to do what they haven't done in a while...trying to build a fighter up some notoriety and give them some exposre..but then that's only 2 fights with geale-barker..they said its a triplelheader...whats the 3rd fight?
