I'm so excited to watch Canelo take on the slick William Scull :wow:

Scull put on a masterclass against Shishkin after Canelo dropped the belt and ducked him before. Now time for him to become undisputed :salute:

Watched Crawford-Madrimov again..commentary was really terrible. Crawford won 8 rounds pretty comfortably. Madrimov did not do enough to warrant anything more than 5 rounds. I think people just wanted to shyt on Crawford but this fight just showed all the dimensions he possesses and why he's so difficult to beat.
Won 8 rds comfortably :mjlol: alright

It dawned on me today that Canelo has had 5 legitimately difficult fights out of his last 15.

(Bivol, GGG 1, GG2, Plant, Kovalev). You could maybe argue Billy Joe Saunders was another difficult fight. Okay 6 fights out of 15.

*Kovalev fight was a classic A side, shifty move, forcing Kovalev to sign up off 8 weeks notice after an exhausting, 12 round slugfest against Anthony Yarde, or lose the chance at the fight entirely.

So technically the Kovalev fight is an unfair scrap (Kovalev did tire in the latter rounds and get ktfo, so it is an accurate summation).

Out of those 5 / 6 fights, you can argue that Canelo lost 3 of them, but definitely lost 2 of them, and was gifted a draw.

What a pathetic last quarter of a career.
That’s a bit harsh.
I criticize him heavily for turning his back to challenges after the Bivol L but I’d include Jacobs and Callum Smith too among the “difficult” opponents even though Smith was proven to be no match at all. Still at the time he was a very legit opponent, so was BJS and Jacobs. 8 legit fights out of 15 is not bad at all

Canelo had a great run from the first GGG fight in 2017 through the last GGG fight in 2022. Only had 2 tune up fights out of 10 in that period and one of those was a mandatory. You have to give that to him.

The problem is what he’s done (and continues to do) in the last 2 years.

.you can argue he has earned the right to do what he wants. My thing is do what Floyd did and just pick a sanctioning body and keep that belt + ring so other cats can make their legacy vs holding it hostage.

If Canelo dropped every belt and kept WBC + Ring he would still be seen as number 1 and undisputed/the real champ imo

I’m not arguing any of these points. I just talked about giving him credit for his 2017-2022 run
