We're all paying to essentially see the Harlem Globetrotters vs the Washington Generals except that one punch can change everything and maybe, just maybe that if it can make enough money the Harlem Globetrotters will eventually play a team that's on their level for one night before they go back to playing the Washington Generals again.
fukking sad, but this is a good analogy. I think it was the Mayweather era when I first started hearing "the business of boxing" being used a legitimate reason for why we supposed to just accept (and pay for) trash ass match ups. Between the promoters and the handful of media they give access to the narrative got pushed to the point it's now normalized that we only get good fights when it's financially advantageous otherwise we supposed to be happy with whatever slop they throw on PPV and if you have the audacity to complain as a fan then you don't understand "the business of boxing" :francis:

For Boots specifically it'll be interesting to see how he moves from here on out. Before these philly fights he could argue people were ducking him. Over the last 2 years all of those former 147 guys have moved on and now he is the division cash cow so that excuse ain't hitting the same. Hearn is going to have to start dropping a bag

Mayweather rarely had any trash match ups
