I would have understood this pre-July 29 but not now. Dude got beat really really bad. Would anyone really want to see him again at that level?

It’s a way of saying they don’t want it, not his manager anyway.

To keep forcing Spence at this level right after that beating is careless too. He needs to retire or build himself back at a slower pace, not the winner of Tszyu vs Fundora :childplease: Common sense anyone?

I’m not sure if they understand what a bad look would be to vacate that belt to avoid the fighter who just brutalized the fighter they would rather fight. I doubt Tszyu would even do this but his manager talking like this is not a good sign.

I really doubt that financially a Spence fight would be the same as before either, Bud on the other hand stepped up in notoriety/fame, he’s probably the bigger draw rn.

this might sound foul but facing Spence next and aim to finish him off earlier or more brutal than Bud would draw more interest in a Huge fight Tim VS Terrance.

I don't really see it that way.

Like all boxing teams (management, trainer, boxer, promoter) the aim is to line up the highest paydays with the most minimum of risk. In this case Spence is a damaged opponent coming off the Crawford loss. They'd be trying to get a few fights out of this little run towards the top.

You'd suspect that all going well, they'd love to maximise Tsyzu's earning window, thats the way it works, and has always worked.

Ideally being -
  • Fundora victory (not guaranteed)
  • Spence victory (a big draw still, and a damaged opponent stepping up in weight class poses less risk.)
  • Crawford fight (another large payday.)

Is he though? How many people would buy into that knowing how bad Spence was beaten within a year?

And that’s just the Tszyu side you’re talking about but what’s in it for the Spence team? Like… your guy just suffered one of the worse beatings of recent years and you’d be eager to put him in front of a puncher at his prime in a higher weightclass? What for… to scramble his remaining brain cells? Stupid thing imo

Yeah, Spence is still a big name, he got beat the fukk down, but he's had one career loss. He'd still fill out a Texas stadium easily.

Spence is a boxer who believes in himself and his ability as a boxer to outbox you and outwork you. There's a lot of boxers that think Tsyzu is garbage. Spence is one of them.

He wants to pit his boxing prowess and stamina against him. The brain cell part is another thing altogether. But Spence was the man 6 months ago, he might become the man again if he beats Tszyu, whom he thinks is garbage. Tbh I like that fight. Both grit boxers.

Spence aint who they think he is talent wise and its gonna be a shame how his career ends cause him and his handlers are too dumb to take a couple of tuneups after him getting his brain rattled by Crawford or pavement.. and it's a also a damn shame they are still trying to freeze out Bud in 2024.. Spence aint beating Tzsyu but I will root for him if the fight happens
