To that end, Benavidez said he was willing to accept $5 million with no pay-per-view upside to share the ring with Alvarez. Plant earned approximately $10 million for his November 2021 loss to Alvarez, while Billy Joe Saunders made $8 million earlier that year.

"The thing I cared about was the opportunity because I know once I beat him, then that's when the money comes," said Benavidez, ESPN's No. 2 boxer at 168 pounds. "These are the sacrifices you have to take. ... PBC and Al Haymon have been paying me really good for a really long time. So I'm very happy with them."
We now have proof the money was on the table ($50 million+), with David ready to take less than the two handpicks Canelo fought 2 years ago.

Meanwhile Eddie Hearn and Oscar are staring at a burning house promoting Devin and Ryan :mjlol:

Benavidez saying he wouldn't cross the street to fight Canelo is kind of ridiculous. What kind of leverage does dude think he has and if he can't cross the street then what are his plans at light heavy if both Bivol and Beast are across the street.
well he better hope sampson can win the bids then lol

Do we really have proof? I'm not here to defend Canelo leaving. But I don't think PBC is telling the ever truth either. There's a third side somewhere and that's where the truth is.

The Proof is Canelo signed a 3 fight deal that was highly publicized when announced. And based on the events that occurred the fighters PBC Offered to Canelo under the 3 fight deal adjusted. Canelo only fought 1 out of the 3 fights. So it was on Canelo to say "yes I will fight this person you are offering under our agreed deal" or "no I do not want this fight". And it appears he did not want the fighters being offered.

That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the money. One side says the money was there. One side says it's wasn't.

This is why I hate the business. When people not directly involved with the negotiations start talking about it, they're basically taking sides.

All I want to do is see fighters fight.

who says what? From what I understood Canelo doesn't want who PBC is offering now and choose to explore another path. Did I miss something?

Why cross the street when they were both on the same side? Why would he take a worse deal and kill his relationship with the guys who made him rich? He was giving Al a discount because of how much money theyve made together. He ain’t taking less than 10 million from Hearn :mjlol:

A fight with Bivol and Artur can be made a lot easier because it’ll be the most money either of them have ever made (which is often the case when you deal with PBC).

It’s a moot point though because Canelo doesn’t want to fight him on any street, and Eddie can’t change that.

This is fair. Do I think PBC offered Canelo a few light touches? Definitely. Do I also think Benavidez was always on the table? Absolutely. I think Jermall being a complete mess and Errol being injured (killing the mega fight rematch), put them in a position move the timeline up for Canelo-Benavidez and he ran from it.

One thing that’s always been right with PBC is money, so I have no reason to believe they didn’t have it. Now did they have it to pay Canelo $35 million to fight a complete bum? I doubt it. Only people wasting cash like that are the Saudis.
