the issue is the rematch so quick for something so non competitive.
additional mileage...i fully believe spence is taxed...and its not just crawford who i think can beat him either..every fight of his after porter is more mileage added onI gotta agree with you Pat.
But like you said, that ass whuppin Spence got makes you wonder if it's worth a rematch. That type of beating ages a fighter just as much as time itself.
eddie def wants a heavyweight champion back in his foldLike I said before, can't really blame them.
People forget that Spence can request an extension.
PBC and Showtime might be afraid that Crawford won't honor it.
He never thought about fighting Canelo. Spence always has. If Spence is easy for him to beat, then he should have the same thinking going against Canelo..with his speed and better timing. Canelo still hits hard though. Spence didn't hit Crawford with any of his usual shyt...could be different with Canelo.I think they all know that James's fighters can't beat him. Word on the skreets is Spence is getting close to activating the rematch. I think we're a couple of days away from the window closing. I think Spence will ask for the extension.
But you can tell they're kinda looking pass Spence at this point and really can't blame them. Haymon and Espinosa did everything they could go freeze them out until they couldn't.
That's why I never bought into all these jabronis saying he was aging him out. He's been in no tough fights since Gamboa. The chances of him sliding are incredibly small. Dude lives the lifestyle of a fighter. No drinking. No smoking. Very little partying.
They ask him what he ate after the fight because of the difficulty he had making weight. He said he had a slice of pizza.
Espinoza mentioned that things can be negotiated. IMO If I`m spence I'd let Bud chase his dreams of 3x undisputed and then try to catch Bud end of 24 with at least 2 prior 154 fights so I (Spence) can grow into the weight + work on some things. Spence looking good at 154 could re-spark folks even wanting to pay for this.

Spence was the one who took on the real names.

Charlo: My Whole Career, It’s Been About Almost Chasing Canelo; Been Top Guy A Long Time
When I got the call, there’s nothing that I could say other than jump on it,” Charlo explained. “Let’s go. And let’s get it. Because my whole career, it’s been about almost chasing Canelo. You know, like Canelo been a top guy for a long time. And if you wanna be great, you always wanna just fight the top guy.
Charlo: My Whole Career, It’s Been About Almost Chasing Canelo; Been Top Guy A Long Time
Jermell Charlo didn’t think twice when Al Haymon called him about boxing Canelo Alvarez. Accepting this task required Charlo to move up two weight classes, a total of 14 pounds, and to end what will be a 16-month layoff against the toughest opponent of his 15-year professional career. This is a...www.boxingscene.com
Straight from the horses mouth. The majority of these guys just sat around doing nothing waiting on that canelo payday. Fighting bum after bum cause they were afraid to lose that golden ticket. At least jermell still made great fights for himself in the meantime. That's why he actually deserves it. A lot of these dudes wasted their whole careers waiting for canelo to come calling. shyt is sad.
I mean even the number 1 p4p fighter on the planet is officially chasing him. shyt is wild. Canelo is essentially the mountain top for all these guys. And a lot of em sacrificed their entire careers to reach that mountain top. With zero shame. That's why I have no sympathy for em. They took no kind of pride in their legacy whatsoever.Didn't I say this last week?
People can debate if he's still the best or not until the cows come home. But there's is no denying he's still the face of boxing.
Any fighter between 147 and 175 will jump on it quick as hell if they got that call saying something is lining up with Canelo.
On top of that we're not even talking about the actual beating that Spence took. To take that kind of beating even at 20 years old could be career altering. But to take that at 33 when you already have crazy miles on you. I don't see Spence ever coming back the same. Physically or mentally. That's the kind of beating you never fully recover from. The chances of him sliding are incredibly small. Dude lives the lifestyle of a fighter. No drinking. No smoking. Very little partying.
